Machali 3 - 2 Karusos (190655086)

Clouds darkened the skies at Kllejon as 9711 spectators turned up for the match. Can Bach was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Moritz Cicetti and Ernst Dietrich. A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Machali. Starters: Castro - Rodríguez, Cossio, Tortello, Silva - Hetz, Florido, Orden, Vidma - Manieu, Hardy.

Karusos tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination. Starters: Cortes - Ferrara, Tapia Mateo, Neira, Lacroix - Ramos, Caldera, Toro, Despouy - Coulin, Barrionuevo.

The referee showed Machali's E. Cossio the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Having been awarded a free kick in an awkward position after 25 minutes, Karusos did not go for a shot but instead fired the ball hard into the 6 yard box. After a brief tussle with his marker, D. Despouy was able to power the ball past the keeper to make the score 0 - 1. Karusos's M. Ramos finished emphatically to make the score 0 -2 after 31 minutes, after the enigmatic J. Ferrara pulled a delightful long pass from his box of tricks to bypass the defence. The visiting supporters hurled a torrent of abuse at the referee when a questionable free kick after 35 minutes led to a goal for J. Castro, who scored to make it 1 - 2. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, V. Neira got himself booked. The manager of Karusos was not happy. Halftime score was 1 - 2. Possession in this half belonged to Machali, who controlled the ball 56 percent of the time.

Machali's B. Florido was shown a yellow card after 50 minutes for slicing down an opponent. J. Ferrara seemed highly inexperienced when, after 59 minutes, he was caught dilly-dallying with the ball and allowed A. Vidma to intercept and strike home the goal for Machali to make the score 2 - 2. Machali could have put themselves ahead after 61 minutes but O. Orden missed a volley shot on a ball coming in from the right. V. Neira knew he was in trouble after hacking down an opponent. Despite his pleading with the referee, the Karusos player was shown a second yellow card and dismissed from the game. Making his way up the middle 69 minutes into the match, J. Silva almost managed to squeeze a goal past the visitors' keeper, but the alert V. Cortes blocked it to keep the score level. Machali claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 62 percent.

After the regular 90 minutes, the agony of extra time followed. Machali took the lead, 3 - 2, after a penalty 100 minutes into the match. J. Castro scored from the penalty spot. What a dramatic win for Machali! The most dominating Machali player was without a doubt A. Vidma. M. Tortello was a disappointment, however. Most important Karusos player was M. Ramos. On the other hand, D. Despouy's play was disheartening. The match ends 3 - 2.
