Pakistan 0 - 5 Suomi (202479555)

83675 spectators had found their way to Saads Football Club Arena, despite the heavy rain. Erich Buchner was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Anders M. Rotherberg and Jost Eric. U-20 Pakistan started off with a 4-5-1 lineup. Lineup: Lallani - Inam, Usmani, Yohanna, Jaffer - Manoshan, Ahmed, Khan, Junaid, Lateef - Ahmad.

U-20 Suomi decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. They fielded: Renvall - Fribom, Sanden, Tirri - Annuk, Toiviainen, Kiviniemi, Tirri, Munnukka - Kekki, Pääkkö.

The wings were the focus of most of U-20 Pakistan's attacks today. Z. Manoshan was uncomfortable with the soggy pitch as he couldn't move the ball around with his usual grace. U-20 Suomi's J. Munnukka placed the ball right at his teammate's feet after a corner, but V. Sanden couldn't finish. The visiting J. Munnukka was booed thoroughly by the home crowd 26 minutes into the game, after he broke through the middle and scored, resulting in the visitors taking the lead. 0 - 1 was the score. You could feel the tension in the crowd after the referee awarded the home side a penalty kick and a chance to equalise. Sadly, A. Khan's shot sailed wide of the goal. With 34 minutes played, E. Kiviniemi of U-20 Suomi fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave H. Yohanna from U-20 Pakistan a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 40 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! After 41 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defence allowed E. Kiviniemi to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors. 0 - 2. 0 - 2 was the halftime score. Possession in this half belonged to U-20 Suomi, who controlled the ball 52 percent of the time.

The crowd groaned when A. Inam, having maneuvered his way down the right, fired the ball just wide and missed a great opportunity to reduce the deficit for U-20 Pakistan. After 69 minutes, U-20 Suomi's E. Kiviniemi burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 3. The visitors' A. Kekki took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 74 minutes into the match. 0 - 4 for U-20 Suomi. U-20 Suomi's M. Annuk was shown a yellow card after 77 minutes for slicing down an opponent. The home crowd was not impressed when A. Kekki came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 80 minutes. U-20 Suomi were now up 0 - 5. Confident in their lead, U-20 Suomi's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. U-20 Suomi enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 52 percent of possession.

Most important U-20 Pakistan player was A. Khan. H. Yohanna was a disappointment, however. N. Pääkkö performed admirably for U-20 Suomi. However, V. Sanden made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 0 - 5.
