Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 55504 at Winston Churchill arena today. René Wick was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Hubertus Schalburg and Samu Björkbacka. People from all over Paramaribo had joined up for the derby. Scorpios mostly ignored the flanks in favour of their ability to attack in the middle. A mistake by the home side's central defence after 3 minutes allowed A. Apanta to score for Scorpios. The scoreboard now read 0 - 1. After 20 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave S. Pedersen a chance to increase the lead for Scorpios, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 2. At this point, it was obvious that the players of Scorpios lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. 35 minutes into the match, S. Pedersen came through the middle and almost added to his team's lead, but the shot went wide. The referee showed Ornamibo's B. Bacchus the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. The home crowd was not impressed when J. Eijndhoven came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 42 minutes. Scorpios were now up 0 - 3. M. Wallisch of Ornamibo received a yellow card after 43 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. With 45 minutes played, Scorpios's well-worked indirect free kick caused havoc in the penalty area, and when the ball eventually fell to A. Apanta he gleefully slotted the ball home to make it 0 - 4. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave P. Brobst from Scorpios a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 45 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! B. Bacchus's knee will be throbbing for days, but thankfully for Ornamibo, he bravely continued in the match. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 4. Scorpios enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 74 percent of possession.

A. Apanta received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 53 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 5. The Scorpios fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. At that, A. Apanta was noted down for a hat trick! 56 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 0 - 6 as A. Apanta finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick. With 56 minutes played, S. Pedersen nearly put the visitors another one up as he broke through in the middle and fired from just outside the box, but his shot passed just over the bar. The home crowd cheered when, after 64 minutes, P. Brobst's charge up the middle resulted in the keeper making one of his best saves of the day. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Scorpios, with 75 percent of the ball.

The most dominating Ornamibo player was without a doubt G. Carusone. On the other hand, B. Bacchus's play was disheartening. J. Vinuesa performed admirably for Scorpios. However, Q. Neral made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 0 - 6.
