previous 7/10 next 9/10  Baníček 1 - 4 Navsi (203961402)

The 57840 spectators at FC Baníček Arena were in for an afternoon of sunshine. Maiko Helferich was the appointed referee. A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Baníček. They fielded: Falgård - Talaev, Žvanut, Behague - Kaplita, Půčik, Borůvka, Sadílek, Fila - Lynch, Jelínek.

A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Navsi. The following players had been chosen: Procházka - Bruhn, Branchereau, Ramírez, Jonasson - Gusar, Vlasák, Storli, Smith - Malinský, Špinka.

Navsi were relying on their ability to counter-attack. Navsi caught their opponents out with a clever counterattack down the right wing 22 minutes into the match. J. Bruhn was able to finish off the move - 0 - 1. 23 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 0 - 2 as D. Malinský finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick. Baníček's fans were urging them forward as they tried to get back into the game, and their vocal support was rewarded 32 minutes into the match as M. Žvanut ran onto a beautiful ball played through the visitors' defence and slotted it past the keeper to reduce the deficit. 1 - 2. With 40 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed M. Vlasák of Navsi to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 1 - 3. 41 minutes into the game, M. Vlasák finished off a Navsi left wing counterattack, making the score 1 - 4. At this point, it was obvious that the players of Navsi lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. It was 1 - 4 at the break. Baníček had most of the ball, with 55 percent of possession.

The fierce heat made it important to save breath, and after a few swift runs J. Ramírez found it hard to get back into position. J. Bruhn was, after 79 minutes, almost able to extend the visitors' lead with a well placed diving header after the ball had looped into the centre, but the home side's keeper T. Falgård made the save. Possession in this half belonged to Baníček, who controlled the ball 55 percent of the time.

R. Sadílek performed admirably for Baníček. L. Jelínek turned in a dismal performance, however. Most important Navsi player was M. Procházka. J. Ramírez on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 1 - 4.
