Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 1134 at
Duff e Barrette Supersalsa Arena today.
Although the formal home team was talisker, the spectators were of course much preferring panthiana.
talisker started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
Lineup: Tedde - Avesio, Viarani, Mannazzu - Frisone, Picchianti, Corvaglia, Papegno, Fata - Nini, De Girolamo.
panthiana started off with a 4-4-2 lineup.
The following players had been chosen: Filattiera - Bubbi, Menascì, Fanelli, Mega - Preenen, Valerio, Frisenda, Myrtaj - Bottiglieri, Aquilano.
It was an obvious ambition of talisker to use their ability at attacking on the flanks.
For their match strategy, panthiana had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible.
The home crowd was not impressed by the fancy moves of panthiana's
Luigi Bottiglieri after 12 minutes. He converted a pass from the left for a goal, resulting in the visitors taking the 0 - 1 lead.
29 minutes in, and talisker was able to score the equalising 1 - 1 goal when
Luca De Girolamo picked up a pass coming in from the right and chipped it past the away team's keeper.
There was concern in the stands when, at the 31 minute mark, talisker's
Romano Nini hit the ground hard, but he refused the attention of the trainer and rejoined his teammates on the pitch.
After 40 minutes of play,
Romano Nini gave the home team a 2 - 1 lead after an attack coming in from the right.
After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, talisker's
Ninni Picchianti got himself booked.
It was 2 - 1 at the break.
This half belonged to panthiana, who controlled the ball 52 percent of the time.
panthiana's
Nelis Preenen's early cross saw the defenders caught out of position and the alert
Umberto Aquilano was able to pounce and roll the ball past the hapless goalkeeper to make the score 2 - 2.
A mistake by the home side's central defence after 59 minutes allowed
Giorgio Valerio to score the 2 - 3 goal for panthiana.
The away team's
William Bubbi took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 65 minutes which increased panthiana's lead to 2 - 4.
A misunderstanding between the visitors' keeper
Massimiliano Marco Filattiera and his left defence could have resulted in a goal for talisker, but
Danilo Fata's finish was way too lame.
talisker's
Moreno Viarani had a shot that hit the post after 70 minutes, after a swerving free kick.
This half belonged to panthiana, who controlled the ball 51 percent of the time.
Most important talisker player was
Andrea Frisone.
On the other hand,
Romano Nini's play was disheartening.
Umberto Aquilano performed admirably for panthiana.
However,
Maurizio Fanelli made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 2 - 4.
