Dortmund 4 - 1 Seeteufel
(242389917)

10-10-2009 18.00
Clouds darkened the skies at
Dortmund Stars Arena as 49884 spectators turned up for the match.
Alfredo Lobatón was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Lúcio Alagoano and
Jaakko Kakkuri.
A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Dortmund.
The following players took the field: Disch - Freyberg, Guettel, Mineo - Hörbach, Gomm, Schifter, Lechner, Hond - Raugei, Schefhold.
Seeteufel had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
They fielded: Campanini - Permyakov, Lennartsson, Matuszak - Délétroz, Darwinkel, Ward, Wagnitz, van Nieuwenhuizen - Nogueira, Lethmair.
Seeteufel mostly ignored the flanks in favour of their ability to attack in the middle.
Dortmund were very close to putting themselves one up after 23 minutes as
M. Raugei got through on the left, but failing in concentration, he shot the ball wide.
Seeteufel had several good opportunities to take the lead, especially 26 minutes in when
F. Ward came up alone against
T. Disch who managed a block.
T. Hörbach's early cross saw the defenders caught out of position and the alert
J. Schefhold was able to pounce and roll the ball past the hapless goalkeeper to score for Dortmund. 1 - 0.
Seeteufel tied it all up, 41 minutes in, after a spectacular goal by
G. Délétroz, who miraculously broke through the home side's central defence, making it 1 - 1.
As
R. Mineo had, completely unprovoked, swept the legs out from under an opponent in front of a linesman, the referee gave the Dortmund player a red card without batting an eyelid.
Making his way up the middle 43 minutes into the match,
T. Hörbach almost managed to squeeze a goal past the visitors' keeper, but the alert
S. Campanini blocked it to keep the score level.
The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 1.
Possession in this half belonged to Dortmund, who controlled the ball 55 percent of the time.
Having been awarded a free kick in an awkward position after 55 minutes, Dortmund did not go for a shot but instead fired the ball hard into the 6 yard box. After a brief tussle with his marker,
J. Schefhold was able to power the ball past the keeper to make the score 2 - 1.
A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Dortmund's
J. Schefhold increasing the lead to 3 - 1.
That made three goals for
J. Schefhold and he was marked down for the hat trick.
By now, the players in Dortmund felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward.
After 73 minutes,
E. Freyberg put Dortmund ahead 4 - 1 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing.
After several obvious shirt pulling incidents,
E. Freyberg got himself booked. The manager of Dortmund was not happy.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Dortmund, with 55 percent of the ball.
Dortmund's top performer was clearly
U. Lechner.
On the other hand,
T. Hörbach's play was disheartening.
Seeteufel's best player was
N. Wagnitz.
A. van Nieuwenhuizen turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 4 - 1.
