(246730273)

08-11-2009 13.20
A brilliantly sunny day had enticed a crowd of 12350 to
Falcon Arena.
Joakim K. Andersson was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Vincent Saint-Hilaire and
Adelino Santos.
Falcorns decided to use a 4-4-2 set up.
Starters: Vanrostenberghe - Coppens, Dupuis, Rave, Wygaerts - Coulée, Bourgeois, Vervaecke, Cardon - Hennuy, Noé.
Xplode had chosen a strategic 3-4-3 formation.
They fielded: Guarda - Voinea, Lumi, Sabapathi - Simonsz, Chinês, Schermann, Wolperth - Płocha, Malmi, Urgnani.
The visiting
R. Urgnani was booed thoroughly by the home crowd 6 minutes into the game, after he broke through the middle and scored, resulting in the visitors taking the lead. 0 - 1 was the score.
I. Simonsz was, after 18 minutes, almost able to extend the visitors' lead with a well placed diving header after the ball had looped into the centre, but the home side's keeper
S. Vanrostenberghe made the save.
After 19 minutes, the defensive line of Falcorns created a counterattack through the middle that gave
N. Coppens a good look at the goal, but his shot glanced harmlessly off the crossbar.
After 28 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for
L. Wolperth who increased Xplode's lead to 0 - 2.
Falcorns's
S. Vanrostenberghe left the field after 29 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was
A. Kennes.
N. Coppens was the new captain of Falcorns - handed the armband by the departing player.
Several players seemed a little dazed by the warm weather, and were repeatedly tricked by the clever and agile
D. Sabapathi.
R. Lumi received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 35 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 3. The Xplode fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early.
The players of Xplode now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle.
It was 0 - 3 at the break.
Possession in this half belonged to Xplode, who controlled the ball 70 percent of the time.
The fierce heat made it important to save breath, and after a few swift runs
I. Wygaerts found it hard to get back into position.
The home keeper was stunned 72 minutes into the match when he misjudged the free kick by
P. Płocha and dived in the wrong direction. The visitors increased the lead to 0 - 4.
Xplode increased the lead to 0 - 5 as
P. Płocha scored from the penalty spot, putting the ball in near the top left corner.
82 minutes into the game, Xplode were awarded a penalty and
P. Płocha was able to increase the visitors' lead to 0 - 6 rolling the ball in by the right post.
By then
P. Płocha had scored three goals - a hat trick!
With 85 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed
R. Lumi of Xplode to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 0 - 7.
After 88 minutes, Xplode's
R. Lumi burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 8.
That was his third goal of the match - a hat trick for
R. Lumi.
Xplode claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 75 percent.
Most important Falcorns player was
D. Coulée.
A. Kennes turned in a dismal performance, however.
Xplode's top performer was clearly
L. Wolperth.
On the other hand,
F. Voinea's play was disheartening.
The match ends 0 - 8.
