Nivaria 5 - 1 C.H.P. (257175225)

It had rained all day, but 20656 hardy fans still made it out to Olímpico de Nivaria. Erni Barbar was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Daniel Andreoli and Clemente Alarcón. Nivaria decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. Starters: Frieira - Seras, Fernández Castrillón, Rambaud - Gómez, Guercolata, Álvarez, Valera Murcia, Pardo - Castarle, Sáenz.

C.H.P. had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. The following players had been chosen: De Grandis - Osterholzer, Costales, Varona - Fagersten, Löliger, Caellas, Roca, Lindenmann - Bigatello, Serra.

C.H.P. decided to play creatively. The corner kick from E. Osterholzer was powerfully met by the head of D. Fagersten to make the score 0 - 1. M. Castarle charged down the left and had a wonderful opportunity to score the equaliser for Nivaria, but the shot went well wide of the goal. After 8 minutes, J. Álvarez made a dash down the middle past the away team's defenders to score the goal that made it 1 - 1. The head of L. Fernández Castrillón connected with a corner kick after 28 minutes, and the ball ended up with A. Seras of Nivaria who blasted the ball into the net, making the score 2 - 1. Nivaria increased the lead as M. Castarle struck to make the score 3 - 1 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper. Nivaria managed to extend their lead to 4 - 1 when A. Seras cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. There was concern in the stands when, at the 39 minute mark, Nivaria's I. Gómez hit the ground hard, but he refused the attention of the trainer and rejoined his teammates on the pitch. Halftime score was 4 - 1. Nivaria had most of the ball, with 53 percent of possession.

With 70 minutes played, Nivaria's well-worked indirect free kick caused havoc in the penalty area, and when the ball eventually fell to A. Seras he gleefully slotted the ball home to make it 5 - 1. That made three goals for A. Seras and he was marked down for the hat trick. By now, the players in Nivaria felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward. S. Bigatello of C.H.P. received a yellow card after 76 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. With 83 minutes gone, C.H.P.'s S. Bigatello had to leave the pitch after talking back to the referee and receiving his second booking. Nivaria claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 54 percent.

The most dominating Nivaria player was without a doubt J. Sáenz. L. Fernández Castrillón turned in a dismal performance, however. Most important C.H.P. player was T. Löliger. R. Varona was a disappointment, however. The match ends 5 - 1.
