(266319115)

06-01-2010 04.00
It had rained all day, but 12000 hardy fans still made it out to
HH ANFIELD.
Vincent van Scherpenzeel was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Jelan Bejtaj and
Phil Futterknecht.
headhunters08 tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination.
The following players took the field: Ruck - Neville, Poncho, Haywood, Mansfield - Tellam, Srain, Buchhagen, Emerson - Allen, Goodall.
Waverley started off with a 2-5-3 lineup.
Starters: Alves - Amstein, Dalpasso - Fanni, Griesser, Schirone, Chenlo, Melixon - Stanley, Retterath, Akonom.
Waverley clearly preferred using their ability to attack in the middle.
After 3 minutes, Waverley sent a free kick in high over the penalty box. In what looked like a well-rehearsed move, the ball was headed backwards and reached
R. Stanley, who had plenty of space to place a well aimed shot - 0 - 1.
S. Emerson of headhunters08 received a yellow card after 5 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour.
After 10 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as Waverley found themselves out of position and their organisation level dropped to
weak.
Waverley's
F. Griesser made it through the home team's defence on the right hand side 31 minutes into the match. After rounding the keeper, he only had to place the ball in the unguarded goal when a defender slid in and cleared the ball off the line.
The boggy pitch disrupted the game, especially for technical players like
R. Stanley.
C. Fanni wanted to play on, but the Waverley coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 35 minutes into the game by
D. La Caze.
36 minutes into the match,
F. Griesser came through the middle and almost added to his team's lead, but the shot went wide.
The referee signalled a penalty 41 minutes into the game following an offence which looked like it was outside the box.
W. Dalpasso knocked it home to make the score 0 - 2.
43 minutes into the game, Waverley had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to
poor.
0 - 2 was the halftime score.
Waverley had most of the ball, with 76 percent of possession.
The coach gave his players an extra tactical briefing during the break, and after that Waverley had
passable organisation.
60 minutes into the game a free kick by
W. Dalpasso found its way through the home side's poorly assembled defensive formation, making Waverley's lead 0 - 3.
66 minutes in, Waverley appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only
poor.
After 67 minutes, Waverley's
R. Stanley burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 4.
Confident in their lead, Waverley's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it.
After 78 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave
G. Schirone a chance to increase the lead for Waverley, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 5.
A drive down the left side allowed
S. Melixon to get in close and score another goal for Waverley after 83 minutes, taking the score to 0 - 6.
After 84 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for
T. Retterath who increased Waverley's lead to 0 - 7.
Possession in this half belonged to Waverley, who controlled the ball 77 percent of the time.
Most important headhunters08 player was
T. Tellam.
However,
S. Ruck made a disastrous appearance.
Waverley's top performer was clearly
D. La Caze.
C. Alves turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 0 - 7.
