Silver 0 - 3 Tech09
(266388514)

06-01-2010 12.00
The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 28126 had shown up at
Silver Arena for the match.
Bengt Olofsson was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Melchor Visca and
Riewerd Moonen.
Silver had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
Starters: Pradas Veredas - Melham, Wardle, Mirčetić - Rusu, Örnkvist, Washburn, Bergot, Danisch - Bernacca, Figueredo.
Tech09 tactics involved an interesting 4-5-1 combination.
The following players had been chosen: Sala - Chaves, Berasategui, Bellentani, Calles - Torras, Ruiz Gutiérrez, Martins, Vegena, Persson - Infante.
Silver seemed to prefer attacking in the middle.
Making his way up the middle 5 minutes into the match,
M. Örnkvist almost managed to squeeze a goal past the visitors' keeper, but the alert
R. Sala blocked it to keep the score level.
Some things can only be learned through experience, and
B. Ruiz Gutiérrez should take his lesson to heart after nearly gifting Silver a goal with 10 minutes of the match played.
Tech09's
M. Bellentani refused to leave the field after injuring his achilles tendon after 28 minutes.
After 33 minutes, Tech09 put themselves up 0 - 1, as
M. Martins finished off a strike from the left with a real cannonball of a shot.
M. Figueredo of Silver received a yellow card after 36 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour.
Silver tried to even things up by sending a long ball towards the centrally placed strikers, but the visitors' defence got the best of this rather direct style of play.
Silver's
T. Danisch left the field after 38 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was
J. Meinecke.
0 - 1 was the score after the first half.
This part of the game was a standoff between the teams in terms of possession.
With 50 minutes played, after a good run down the left,
M. Örnkvist went down looking for a penalty after a challenge from the visitors' right fullback, but the referee waved play on, and later warned him for diving.
53 minutes into the game,
J. Bergot came close to levelling the score with a dangerous shot from the centre of the area that went just over the bar.
59 minutes into the match, the speedy
F. Persson easily outpaced
A. Washburn, chipped the keeper and made the score 0 - 2.
After this, you could see that the players of Tech09 were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals.
M. Wardle charged down the left and looked sure to score for Silver 68 minutes into the game, but his shot went just wide.
The visitors'
A. Vegena took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 82 minutes into the match. 0 - 3 for Tech09.
Possession in this half belonged to Tech09, who controlled the ball 51 percent of the time.
A. Washburn performed admirably for Silver.
M. Figueredo was a disappointment, however.
The most dominating Tech09 player was without a doubt
A. Vegena.
However,
M. Martins made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 0 - 3.
