previous 2/4 next 4/4  Rauna 0 - 1 CCICCO (266687831)

Clear skies welcomed the 43091 spectators who had made their way to Rauna Arena. Roberto Crisafulli was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Christian Crevits and Daniel van Bronkhorst. A 4-3-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Rauna. They fielded: Pazhiltsev - Dūrēns, Voronov, Speel, Grund - Carlsson, Ločmelis, Martos - Cildermanis, Nthite, Aaring.

CCICCO tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. Starters: Clapers - Ferraz, Popovici, Grimaud - Mura, Colbratt, Briģis, Johnsen, Beloborodko - Buffet, Štelle.

26 minutes into the game, J. Štelle had a great chance to put his team ahead, but his kick from the left went wide. With 27 minutes played, P. Grund of Rauna fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. There was concern in the stands when, at the 41 minute mark, Rauna's R. Speel hit the ground hard, but he refused the attention of the trainer and rejoined his teammates on the pitch. After the game, the most discussed event will probably be the penalty given after 42 minutes that gave the visitors the 0 - 1 lead. Despite the controversy, B. Popovici struck home the penalty, as cool as anything. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 1. CCICCO enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 79 percent of possession.

The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave D. Briģis from CCICCO a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 53 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! The crowd gasped as D. Briģis of CCICCO was flattened by an opponent after 73 minutes and had to be carried off. I. Belermanis came in off the bench. CCICCO's V. Beloborodko got himself booked for a foul. CCICCO's I. Belermanis left the field after 79 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was A. Auziņš. The visitors nearly scored again after 82 minutes, but a superb save by A. Pazhiltsev kept B. Popovici's free kick out of the net. When V. Beloborodko made yet another studs-first tackle after 83 minutes, the referee was obliged to book the CCICCO player for the second time, sending him off the pitch. CCICCO had most of the ball, with 74 percent of possession.

Most important Rauna player was S. Voronov. J. Ločmelis on the other hand, had a terrible day. CCICCO's top performer was clearly J. Johnsen. J. Štelle turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 0 - 1.
