Dark skies made the crowd of 1220 at Stadium of Pride a little nervous, but the rain held off. Mauro Launz was the appointed referee. Gentlemen prefer blondes and Warriors prefers a 5-4-1. Let's see how this plays out for them. Starters: Young - Milton, Campbell, Stone, Ghafouri-Shiraz, Dennahy - Mumford, Goucem, Thurmond, Challa - Maynard.

Our studio analysts were correct. FCMisio has taken the field in a 3-5-2 alignment. Lineup: Brouwer - Ferraton, Marti, Tantôt - Chauvelot, Tricaud, Soule, Rohou, Orenblad - Mai, Joseph.

Warriors demonstrated their creative tactics on the field. I. Marti gave the visitors the lead 4 minutes into the match to make it 0 - 1. The goal was scored from the penalty spot after a handball inside the box. With 5 minutes played, the Warriors coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around. C. Galardi came on and J. Milton had to leave the fray. Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Warriors's H. Stone was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the field after 5 minutes. A. Henri was given a chance to change things around. Warriors needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 5 minutes M. Dennahy made way for G. Picq. 13 minutes into the match, Warriors's A. Henri maneuvered his way around the opposition on the left flank, delighting the crowd with his twists and turns. The effort paid off as the ball found the back of the net, evening the score at 1 - 1. Warriors's A. Goucem was shown a yellow card after 21 minutes for slicing down an opponent. 22 minutes into the game, Warriors had difficulty finding their positions and their organization dropped to weak. 1 - 1 was the halftime score. The forty-five minutes were dominated by FCMisio, with an impressive 53 percent possession of the ball.

Warriors's coach went over the strategy again during the break, and after that his players had solid organization. Warriors were very close to putting themselves one up with 47 minutes gone as G. Picq got through on the left, but a lapse in concentration sent the ball wide. Maybe N. Thurmond should join the aquatics team instead. He went down dramatically after 48 minutes, crying out with agony as he fell. The referee was not impressed, though, and showed him a yellow for diving. Warriors made it 2 - 1 as D. Challa knocked the corner kick to C. Galardi who whipped a low drive in off the far post. Gotta love friendly woodwork! 55 minutes into the game, Warriors's N. Thurmond tried to nail the coffin shut, but his shot from the left glanced off the top of the bar to fall behind the net. The visitors didn't give in and, after 57 minutes, A. Mai got through the home side's central line of defense, rolling in the leveling goal to make it 2 - 2. Though it was beautiful soccer, the home crowd did not enjoy A. Orenblad's goal after a run down the left with 69 minutes on the clock. FCMisio lead, 2 - 3. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, FCMisio's V. Chauvelot got himself booked. A thrilling play through the middle after 78 minutes gave FCMisio's O. Soule a chance to increase the lead, and he happily obliged. The score was then 2 - 4. Confident in their lead, FCMisio's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. 80 minutes in, Warriors appeared unsure on how to play and their organization was only inadequate. Looks like Nate Silver was right again - his prediction that FCMisio would have 62 percent possession in this half was spot on!

G. Picq performed admirably for Warriors. You can tell it was nickel beer night yesterday at the local bar because E. Maynard seemed to stumble all over the pitch. FCMisio's top performer was clearly O. Soule. Good thing M. Tricaud isn't a horse, because he'd surely be sent to the glue factory after that performance. The match ends 2 - 4.
