27-01-2010 02.00
It was an exceptionally sunny day for the crowd of 12000 that came out to
maverccve Arena.
Vincent Olsson was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Ilkka Arkko and
Juan Campomanes.
maverccve decided to use a 4-4-2 set up.
Starters: Kim - Park, Jung, Lee, Kim - Park, Kye, Woo, Shin - Kim, Kim.
A 3-4-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Alphaville.
The following players had been chosen: Parhi - Rowek, Li, Boó - Prúndachki, Kwak, Goux, Vonken - Ahn, Stan, Mares.
3 minutes into the game,
D. Ahn was a hair's breadth away from giving Alphaville the lead with a shot from over on the left. A prompt block by
S. Kim saved the home team that time.
After 5 minutes, Alphaville put themselves up 0 - 1, as
L. Vonken finished off a strike from the left with a real cannonball of a shot.
The home crowd was not impressed when
I. Stan came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 11 minutes. Alphaville were now up 0 - 2.
After 26 minutes, maverccve's
B. Woo fell awkwardly, but was determined to stay in the match. That's the spirit!
With 30 minutes played,
N. Goux nearly put the visitors another one up as he broke through in the middle and fired from just outside the box, but his shot passed just over the bar.
After several obvious shirt pulling incidents,
C. Lee got himself booked. The manager of maverccve was not happy.
32 minutes into the game, Alphaville had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to
inadequate.
With 33 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed
J. Kwak of Alphaville to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 0 - 3.
K. Lee was called on to replace maverccve's
H. Kim after 37 minutes following a nasty collision.
Several players seemed a little dazed by the warm weather, and were repeatedly tricked by the clever and agile
H. Prúndachki.
I. Stan came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle. He tried to lift the ball over
S. Kim but overcooked it and hit the bar instead.
0 - 3 was the halftime score.
Alphaville claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 71 percent.
The coach gave his players an extra tactical briefing during the break, and after that Alphaville had
solid organisation.
After 53 minutes, Alphaville's
M. Mares burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 4.
At this point, it was obvious that the players of Alphaville lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented.
I. Stan received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 72 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 5. The Alphaville fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early.
Against a lesser team, Alphaville could very well have succeeded with their smart indirect free kick routine after 73 minutes. A trio of passes took the ball all the way past the defenders, but by then the intended recipient was already blocked off and the keeper could make a leisurely save.
Alphaville had most of the ball, with 78 percent of possession.
The most dominating maverccve player was without a doubt
B. Woo.
On the other hand,
S. Kim's play was disheartening.
Alphaville's top performer was clearly
L. Vonken.
However,
D. Ahn made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 0 - 5.
