28-04-2010 12.00
The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 27776 had shown up at
Los Bancos Arena for the match.
Péter Erőss was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Kalil Haj-Ibrahim and
Lesław Kluga.
Tilos had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
The following players took the field: Manciu - Walch, Planell, Catania - Liht, Pereda, Walentowicz, Navales, Rojas Mendoza - Mazzucato, Ormaondo.
A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Erdogan.
Lineup: Blondeau - Navarro, Donez, Carrere de Abense - Olmos, Miralles, Segú, Rodríguez, Ramírez - Durán Alba, Navas.
Erdogan's
C. Ramírez placed the ball right at his teammate's feet after a corner, but
F. Durán Alba couldn't finish.
At 12 minutes played,
N. Planell came in from the right with the intention of giving Tilos the lead, but his rocket of a shot rattled the crossbar.
Tilos took the lead after 28 minutes as a result of
J. Mazzucato's peach of a shot from the right hand side of the box - placed beautifully in the top corner. 1 - 0.
N. Rodríguez of Erdogan was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle.
Some things can only be learned through experience, and
M. Segú should take his lesson to heart after nearly gifting Tilos a goal with 32 minutes of the match played.
J. Mazzucato should probably have put his team up another goal after 35 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by
F. Blondeau kept the visitors in the game.
The home side's
S. Ormaondo curled a free kick home after 36 minutes, putting Tilos ahead 2 - 0.
Morale on the visitors' bench was greatly improved when their
F. Durán Alba reduced the lead to make it 2 - 1 after 38 minutes, following a pass from the right.
2 - 1 was the halftime score.
Erdogan claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 54 percent.
Given a free kick in a difficult position after 59 minutes, Erdogan tried a variation that they had practised in training. The kick was sent into the area just in front of the keeper. However, the defence were on their toes and allowed no space for a finish.
Tilos put in a good effort on the right, but
P. Walch saw his volley fly wide of the mark 63 minutes into the game.
80 minutes into the match, the speedy
U. Liht easily outpaced
R. Miralles, chipped the keeper and made the score 3 - 1.
Erdogan managed to reduce the score to 3 - 2 as
D. Navas finished off a well-played combination from the left, easily carving through the defence.
Tilos's
E. Walentowicz had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 82 minutes having been played.
R. Patiño was the replacement.
Erdogan had most of the ball, with 57 percent of possession.
Tilos's top performer was clearly
J. Mazzucato.
On the other hand,
U. Liht's play was disheartening.
Erdogan's best player was
D. Navas.
F. Blondeau turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 3 - 2.
