The 47136 spectators at Hellforge Arena were in for an afternoon of sunshine. Velni started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. Lineup: Lozano Molina - Kristensen, Bornyakov, Mossige - Grahoļskis, Tolis, Garais, Eiduks, Burbickis - Zambars, Lupo.

A 2-5-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Valentain. The following players had been chosen: Ciemītis - Guriņš, Doršs - Elmanis, Eihenbergs, Lavrinenko, Bulanin, Pettersen - Katib, Vanparijs, Shuboderov.

Valentain took the lead after 30 minutes making the score 0 - 1. H. Pettersen placed the ball out of reach for the home side's keeper after a fine move, coming in from the left. M. Lavrinenko received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 32 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 2. The Valentain fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. R. Bulanin of Valentain took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 36 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 0 - 3. After 39 minutes, speedy K. Elmanis dashed past his marker, making plenty of room for the second wave of attack. However, V. Shuboderov failed to score. After 43 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for K. Eihenbergs who increased Valentain's lead to 0 - 4. Confident in their lead, Valentain's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. Some fine movement on the left led to a Valentain goal after 44 minutes, making it 0 - 5. R. Bulanin was noted down as the scorer. 0 - 5 was the halftime score. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Valentain, with 86 percent of the ball.

The home crowd cheered when, after 65 minutes, J. Vanparijs's charge up the middle resulted in the keeper making one of his best saves of the day. As usual, J. Guriņš tried to use his strength and hard work for the benefit of the team, but the heat hit him hard and he couldn't keep pace at all. After 72 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave M. Katib a chance to increase the lead for Valentain, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 6. Velni's E. Eiduks was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 77 minutes. After 80 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defence allowed J. Vanparijs to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors. 0 - 7. The visitors' M. Katib took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 81 minutes into the match. 0 - 8 for Valentain. M. Kristensen didn't pace himself at all, and after a series of daring offensive runs he was too tired to help out in the defensive play. With 83 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed M. Katib of Valentain to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 0 - 9. This third goal completed a hattrick for M. Katib. After 89 minutes, the Valentain players received new instructions from their manager on how to keep in control of the game. The Valentain coach was visibly pleased with the score so far, but still ordered a few tactical changes 89 minutes into the game. In the lead, Valentain adjusted their style of play with 89 minutes gone. After a short break after 89 minutes, Valentain seemed to change their tactical approach a bit. Valentain had most of the ball, with 87 percent of possession.

Velni's top performer was clearly J. Lozano Molina. T. Mossige turned in a dismal performance, however. H. Ciemītis performed admirably for Valentain. On the other hand, H. Pettersen's play was disheartening. The match ends 0 - 9.
