GB 6 - 0 Marciano

Weather conditions were fairly good for soccer, and Rastha Arena saw a turnout of 18376. Bård Lillevold was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Cuca Velloso and Aksel Salumäe. Cry "havoc" and let loose the dogs of war! GB will go to battle in a 3-5-2 formation. They fielded: Plesník - Słowiński, Jaumeandreu, Le Guern - Ilardi, Yazev, Gazzana, Kovács, Stampfer - Szut, Eschacker.

Gentlemen prefer blondes and Marciano prefers a 3-5-2. Let's see how this plays out for them. The following players took the field: Masiero - Erlandsen, Rye-Nielsen, Wickfeldt - Garbuna, Lazăr, Siebert, Melón, Tamm - Vallière, Raulf.

With 22 minutes played G. Eschacker almost put the home team one ahead on a cross coming in from the right, but the shot went just wide. M. Gazzana gave GB the 1 - 0 lead, as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then placed the ball at the keeper's right post – what a clinical finish! The referee showed Marciano's T. Tamm the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. 1 - 0 was the score after the first half. Looks like Nate Silver was right again - his prediction that GB would have 61 percent possession in this half was spot on!

GB managed to extend their lead to 2 - 0 when J. Szut slid in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. After this, you could see that GB's players were mostly interested in killing time and holding on to their lead. GB put themselves up 3 - 0 when V. Ilardi broke through on the right, leaving the entire defensive delegation behind him. With 63 minutes played, the Marciano coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around. N. Pedrabissi came on and O. Rye-Nielsen had to leave the fray. After 70 minutes, Marciano substituted I. Garbuna for Z. Kafri, hoping for a quick impact on the field. After 73 minutes, J. Szut put GB ahead 4 - 0 when he rose to head in a hooked ball, the result of an effort from the right side. GB's G. Eschacker was delighted to score as he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing keeper and into the net, following some good attacking movement on the right wing. 5 - 0 after 77 minutes. GB added another goal to their lead as J. Szut struck home for 6 - 0 after an attack from the left set him up unmarked in front of the keeper. One, two, three goals! That completed a hattrick for J. Szut. AH! AH! AH! The forty-five minutes were dominated by GB, with an impressive 62 percent possession of the ball.

GB's best player was J. Szut. You can tell it was nickel beer night yesterday at the local bar because H. Słowiński seemed to stumble all over the pitch. The most outstanding Marciano player was without a doubt N. Lazăr. Even six year old fans were wincing at the poor play by E. Masiero today. The match ends 6 - 0.
