MAYspor 2 - 1 Ehtenispor (302319203)

Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 13837 at MAYspor SK Arena today. Tapani Kärnä was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Rãzvan Coman and Christopher Himes. MAYspor had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation. They fielded: Jansa - Mondim, Biget, Mazziotti, Glatigny - Greenberg, Medeiros, Liedskär, Brglez - Barbana, Viitala.

Ehtenispor started off with a 4-4-2 lineup. Starters: Pignatale - Bayat, Fernando, Bektaş, Tutku - Barszczak, Schmalzer, Cebel, Bilgi - Payzın, Fehim.

MAYspor seemed to prefer attacking in the middle. 12 minutes in, MAYspor's M. Viitala received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. With 20 minutes played, T. Greenberg of MAYspor fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. There was concern in the stands when, at the 28 minute mark, MAYspor's N. Liedskär hit the ground hard, but he refused the attention of the trainer and rejoined his teammates on the pitch. 30 minutes into the match and the home team took a 1 - 0 lead after breaking through on the left. The scorer for MAYspor was N. Brglez. The referee showed Ehtenispor's A. Barszczak the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in MAYspor's G. Barbana increasing the lead to 2 - 0. By now, the players in MAYspor felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward. 2 - 0 was the score after the first half. Possession in this half belonged to MAYspor, who controlled the ball 62 percent of the time.

The guests got an opportunity to reduce after 56 minutes and A. Barszczak took it from the penalty spot, scoring easily for 2 - 1. It was obvious that team MAYspor had instructions to attack in the middle instead of on the wings. MAYspor's M. Viitala saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 65 minutes. MAYspor had a good opportunity to attack on the wing, but remembered their instructions to go for middle attacks. M. Viitala had a fantastic opportunity to put MAYspor up another goal 66 minutes into the match, but he fired just over the crossbar. After 70 minutes, speedy B. Bilgi dashed past his marker, making plenty of room for the second wave of attack. However, S. Fehim failed to score. Central attacks were the recipe of the day for MAYspor, as they moved the ball from the wings to the middle with startling regularity. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by MAYspor, with 63 percent of the ball.

MAYspor's top performer was clearly J. Medeiros. L. Glatigny turned in a dismal performance, however. Most important Ehtenispor player was S. Payzın. F. Cebel was a disappointment, however. The match ends 2 - 1.
