Trubental 1 - 5 Hobbingen (314286405)

A brilliantly sunny day had enticed a crowd of 17524 to Trubental-Arena. Ricardo Igreja was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Wilfried Thielau and Anders Tranblad. A 3-4-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Trubental. They fielded: Šekularac - Bellorini, Berge, Geschwendtner - Castex, Verbruggen, Marl, Strebele - Läzer, Abu-Khaleel, Sämann.

Hobbingen had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. Starters: Raum - Richtscheid, Schickmyar, Kroetz - Dametal, Benisch, Nieroth, Feilbogen, Alışık - Miechowicz, Plessmann.

Trubental mostly ignored the flanks in favour of their ability to attack in the middle. Hobbingen clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could. After 2 minutes, B. Verbruggen sent the corner kick right to M. Abu-Khaleel who headed it sharply past the keeper. 1 - 0! The visiting team's Y. Kroetz was able to score the 1 - 1 equaliser with a header 3 minutes into the match, after some good work on the right. After 18 minutes, Hobbingen's E. Miechowicz made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 1 - 2. Hobbingen's M. Alışık got himself booked for a foul. A swift counterattack by Hobbingen resulted in a free kick that E. Miechowicz elegantly twisted into the goal - 1 - 3! The visitors' S. Dametal took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 30 minutes into the match. 1 - 4 for Hobbingen. Confident in their lead, Hobbingen's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. After 32 minutes, R. Sämann had a good opportunity to reduce the scoreline for Trubental with a chance created through the middle, but wasn't cool enough. The ball went miles over the bar. With 33 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed E. Miechowicz of Hobbingen to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 1 - 5. That was his third goal of the match - a hat trick for E. Miechowicz. L. Richtscheid of Hobbingen was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. Trubental had a good opportunity to attack on the wing, but remembered their instructions to go for middle attacks. It was 1 - 5 at the break. Possession was split evenly between the teams.

Hobbingen came close to extending their lead as E. Miechowicz delivered a low effort on goal from the right after 79 minutes, but the angle was too narrow and the shot went harmlessly into the side netting. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, A. Nieroth got himself booked. The manager of Hobbingen was not happy. A defender managed to keep the ball from crossing the goal-line after a curling shot coming in from the right from M. Plessmann after 84 minutes, and prevented Hobbingen from going up another goal. Hobbingen had most of the ball, with 52 percent of possession.

The most dominating Trubental player was without a doubt R. Sämann. K. Strebele on the other hand, had a terrible day. Hobbingen's top performer was clearly M. Plessmann. M. Alışık was a disappointment, however. The match ends 1 - 5.
