Salernitana 3 - 2 Longone (316536354)

Clouds darkened the skies at ARECHI UTD. as 1032 spectators turned up for the match. David Lisboa was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Patryk Dudka and Walter Way. Salernitana decided to use a 2-5-3 set up. The following players took the field: Mustaine - Grego, Baldocchi - Westermair, Luyckx, Succi, Kostera, Dumitrescu - Slotter, Fronte, Podeur.

Longone tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. Starters: Rampazzi - Rampazzi, Rampazzi, Rampazzi - Ghedin, Lucchese, Lai, Besozzi, Carmellini - Lommen, Lavelli.

Almost all the way down to the corner flag, Salernitana's E. Dumitrescu somehow managed to get a perfect pass into the middle, impossible to miss for C. Podeur, who struck for 1 - 0. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave D. Besozzi from Longone a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 38 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! It was 1 - 0 at the break. Longone claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 53 percent.

52 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as M. Fronte broke through, making the score 2 - 0 for Salernitana. A bit later, Longone's A. Rampazzi easily reduced the lead to 2 - 1 after a misunderstanding in the home side's central defence. With 57 minutes played, Longone's well-worked indirect free kick caused havoc in the penalty area, and when the ball eventually fell to D. Besozzi he gleefully slotted the ball home to make it 2 - 2. 60 minutes into the game, A. Lommen had a great chance to put his team ahead, but his kick from the left went wide. They were singing the praises of D. Slotter 61 minutes into the match after his speculative chip from the middle of the penalty box found its way over the visitors' keeper to make the score 3 - 2 to Salernitana. Longone had most of the ball, with 52 percent of possession.

The most dominating Salernitana player was without a doubt D. Slotter. J. Mustaine turned in a dismal performance, however. Longone's best player was A. Lommen. However, L. Rampazzi made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 3 - 2.
