Overcast weather free of rain made for a turnout of 20000 at Jägermeistarena today. Greg MacRa was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Charles Lysgård and Saša Čičić. After thorough analysis and consultation of astrological charts, BeTeEsVau decided to go with a 4-5-1 formation. They fielded: Marchetti - Tulla, Holderbein, Dickmann, Schuchhardt - Barrocas, Grandits, Parade, Guilhot, Mittnacht - Varelis.

The head coach flashed hand signals from the sideline and Escorpión formed up in a 3-4-3 combination. Let's hope the opposing sideline wasn't filming that. Starters: Bashir - Opace, Hoz Mulero, Sályi - Braunwalder, Boot, Paraipan, Mitei - Ebels, Beaulien, Güldene.

A. Paraipan gave the visitors the lead 24 minutes into the match to make it 0 - 1. The goal was scored from the penalty spot after a handball inside the box. 35 minutes in, BeTeEsVau appeared unsure on how to play and their organization was only solid. Was it the hair gel? Was it a gift from the gods? Either way, the faithful won't care. Soaring like a Saturn V, T. Opace somehow got his head on a A. Paraipan moonshot from the corner and buried it in the back of the net. What grace! What power! Plant the flag for Escorpión, Neil Armstrong! The score is now 0 - 2. Escorpión's J. Güldene made it through the home team's defense on the right hand side 39 minutes into the match. After rounding the keeper, he only had to place the ball in the unguarded net when a defender slid in and cleared the ball off the line. Halftime score was 0 - 2. Looks like Nate Silver was right again - his prediction that Escorpión would have 53 percent possession in this half was spot on!

The BeTeEsVau coach might have gone through a whole marker putting the playbook up on the board, but it seemed to have worked, with the team regaining a solid organization for the second half. At 75 minutes into the game, BeTeEsVau's E. Guilhot cooly knocked the ball home after an impressive run down the left, reducing the visitors' lead to 1 - 2. 76 minutes into the game, Escorpión were awarded a penalty and A. Paraipan was able to increase the visitors' lead to 1 - 3, rolling the ball in off the right post. 80 minutes into the game, BeTeEsVau seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a solid level of organization. BeTeEsVau's N. Holderbein was shown a yellow card after 84 minutes for slicing down an opponent. Escorpión were forced into a substitution as A. Beaulien couldn't continue playing due to some rough treatment, so L. Haiduc had to come in from the bench. 86 minutes into the game, Escorpión worked the left side industriously creating several opportunities to add to their lead, but just couldn't apply the finishing touch. MY GOD, KING! C. Mitei JUST GAVE A DEFENDER AN RKO OUT OF NOWHERE! MY GOD ALMIGHTY HE'S BROKEN IN HALF! Escorpión are going to have to play the rest of the game a man down! As the captain was no longer on the field, L. Haiduc took over the role for Escorpión. The Escorpión players could smell victory in the air. S. Sályi wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for N. Tomsen after 88 minutes. Escorpión's F. Boot wanted to play on, but after 88 minutes the decision was made to give C. Boehn a chance in his place. Escorpión had no available replacements when T. Opace had to leave the game after 89 minutes because of a strained tendon, leaving the team a man short. BeTeEsVau were doing a good job holding on to the ball, with 55 percent of possession.

BeTeEsVau's top performer was clearly N. Holderbein. I can't remember L. Mittnacht ever having a worse night than he just had. Most important Escorpión player was M. Ebels. You can tell it was nickel beer night yesterday at the local bar because T. Hoz Mulero seemed to stumble all over the pitch. The match ends 1 - 3.
