previous 2/2 next 2/2  Dornem 3 - 2 Langelsheimer (317835892)

It was an exceptionally sunny day for the crowd of 21534 that came out to Greifzu Arena. Horst Breyther was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Urs Pritt and Ferdinand Fraß. Dornem decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. Starters: Paryła - Mançu, Salzstraße, Musini - Eger, Kemnitzer, Autering, Vidal, Sáenz - Nemov, Spohner.

A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Langelsheimer. The following players took the field: Zhelezny - Haugan, Conrique, Delot - Knieper, Ekenstad, Zdanowski, Marcassoli, Tarín - Henc, Christiansen.

Today, Dornem's strategy involved concentrating on the flanks for their attacks. Dornem's H. Sáenz was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 12 minutes. Slack defending gave Dornem a chance to take the lead with 16 minutes played, but A. Nemov's cross from the left flank was fumbled in front of the goal and easily dealt with by the opposition. H. Sáenz's lightning pace was too much for T. Haugan who could only look on as the Dornem player blasted one home. 1 - 0. 1 - 0 was the halftime score. Neither team was controlling the possession at this point in the match, with the stats showing a 50:50 split.

The home team will be cursing T. Henc for weeks; he finished off a great pass from the left, knocking it past the keeper without a problem. The match was level at 1 - 1 after 63 minutes. After 67 minutes, K. Ekenstad made a complete fool of himself when he presented the ball to the feet of L. Spohner who smashed it into the open goal for Dornem. 2 - 1. The visitors didn't give in and, after 74 minutes, E. Tarín got through the home side's central line of defence, rolling in the equaliser to make it 2 - 2. With 75 minutes played A. Musini almost put the home team one ahead on a cross coming in from the right, but the shot went just wide. Dornem had a chance to take the lead after A. Nemov's dazzling drive up the left, but the opportunity fizzled out as his shot went just over the bar after 83 minutes. Players in Dornem heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their central attacks to the wings instead. Dornem were very close to putting themselves one up after 85 minutes as T. Kemnitzer got through on the left, but failing in concentration, he shot the ball wide. As usual, R. Vidal tried to use his strength and hard work for the benefit of the team, but the heat hit him hard and he couldn't keep pace at all. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Dornem, with 53 percent of the ball.

With the scores being level after 90 minutes, the match went into extra time. Some great play up the middle by Dornem led to a chance for L. Spohner to score after 92 minutes, but the shot hit the crossbar. Dornem had a good opportunity to take the lead as C. Autering came up the left side, but he struck the ball weakly and it went straight into the arms of N. Zhelezny. After extra time, the game was still tied and a penalty shoot-out ensued.

Dornem's A. Musini cockily booted the ball with a short-and-fast instep. The penalty, going just wide of the mark, didn't produce a goal. Oooh - how unlucky! Langelsheimer's D. Marcassoli attempt hit the underside of the bar, but rebounded down into the grateful arms of P. Paryła. The score stays 2 - 2. Dornem's T. Kemnitzer looked like he knew exactly where he wanted to put the ball, but unfortunately his shot went wide of the left hand post. Still 2 - 2. A confident P. Christiansen of Langelsheimer put the ball right where he wanted, but P. Paryła was right there for the save. No goal. Dornem's L. Spohner didn't look like he was confident as he stepped up, and produced a badly struck penalty - right into the arms of N. Zhelezny. The score remained 2 - 2. Langelsheimer's K. Ekenstad drove the ball hard to the corner but couldn't get it past the outstretched arm of P. Paryła. The score remains 2 - 2. Dornem's A. Nemov coolly put the ball past N. Zhelezny. 3 - 2. Langelsheimer's J. Zdanowski looked nervous even as he was putting the ball on the spot. He didn't take much of a run up, and his weak shot was easily saved by the keeper. Dornem's H. Sáenz didn't hesitate but N. Zhelezny managed the save, resulting in an unchanged 3 - 2 score. Langelsheimer's T. Delot penalty shot was very well placed but P. Paryła went the right way, blocking it spectacularly. The score was still 3 - 2. Most important Dornem player was C. Autering. However, S. Mançu made a disastrous appearance. Langelsheimer's best player was K. Ekenstad. On the other hand, N. Zhelezny's play was disheartening. The match ends 3 - 2.
