Begu 1 - 3 Tähtikoskela (317881883)

It had rained all day, but 7985 hardy fans still made it out to FC Begu Stadion. 范 (Fan) 资康 (Zikang) was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Esmundo Cáceres and Noah Classen. Begu started off with a 4-4-2 lineup. Lineup: Örnsjö - Lehtoruusu, Lindberg, Valkokallio, Kuusijärvi - Niinilammi, Kirjalainen, 超倫 (Chaolun), Kangasmaa - Vehkaperä, Perhoniemi.

A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Tähtikoskela. Starters: França - Viikinkoski, Pääkkö, Juujärvi, Eskelin - Ignat, Kulokorpi, Kroon, Cháb - Niemi, Svensson.

Tähtikoskela clearly preferred using their ability to attack in the middle. A. Kulokorpi was uncomfortable with the soggy pitch as he couldn't move the ball around with his usual grace. Tähtikoskela had several good opportunities to take the lead, especially 14 minutes in when J. Kroon came up alone against L. Örnsjö who managed a block. J. Cháb's early cross saw the defenders caught out of position and the alert N. Svensson was able to pounce and roll the ball past the hapless goalkeeper to score for Tähtikoskela. 0 - 1. Tähtikoskela players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead. Having turned the direction of play quickly, the Begu counter attack ended as the ball carrier was brought down violently by a defender after 19 minutes. The resulting free kick was a flat shot into the area just in front of the keeper. However, the defence were on their toes and did not allow the opponents to reach the ball. Central attacks were the recipe of the day for Tähtikoskela, as they moved the ball from the wings to the middle with startling regularity. The home crowd cheered when, after 25 minutes, D. Ignat's charge up the middle resulted in the keeper making one of his best saves of the day. J. Juujärvi was, after 29 minutes, almost able to extend the visitors' lead with a well placed diving header after the ball had looped into the centre, but the home side's keeper L. Örnsjö made the save. A defender managed to keep the ball from crossing the goal-line after a curling shot coming in from the right from D. Ignat after 30 minutes, and prevented Tähtikoskela from going up another goal. Halftime score was 0 - 1. Tähtikoskela enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 62 percent of possession.

J. Niemi wanted to play on, but the Tähtikoskela coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 69 minutes into the game by A. Etholén. With 80 minutes played, Tähtikoskela put themselves up 0 - 2 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was N. Svensson. M. Lehtoruusu got left behind when Tähtikoskela's J. Cháb made a sudden run forward after 83 minutes, finishing off with a neat strike. 0 - 3! Tähtikoskela had to make a substitution after 86 minutes. S. Eskelin limped off the field and was replaced by M. Puolamaa. M. Pääkkö was the new captain of Tähtikoskela - handed the armband by the departing player. M. Puolamaa slipped and slithered in the wet grass. His usual rapid runs were nowhere to be seen today. V. Kuusijärvi did everything he could to get one back for his Begu, but keeper T. França denied him with a spectacular block. Begu refused to be intimidated and, breaking through the middle, K. Vehkaperä managed to slip the ball home for 1 - 3. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, M. Puolamaa got himself booked. The manager of Tähtikoskela was not happy. Possession in this half belonged to Tähtikoskela, who controlled the ball 58 percent of the time.

The most dominating Begu player was without a doubt K. Vehkaperä. S. Valkokallio was a disappointment, however. Tähtikoskela's top performer was clearly J. Kroon. M. Puolamaa turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 1 - 3.
