Basca 2 - 0 VECCHIO

16310 spectators arrived at Basca Stadium, where weather conditions were pretty good for soccer. Henriks Osenieks was the appointed referee. The head coach flashed hand signals from the sideline and Basca formed up in a 3-5-2 combination. Let's hope the opposing sideline wasn't filming that. They fielded: Garbarino - Mousing, Wernecki, Gmeiner - Conroth, Moureaux, Vivas, Häggbratt, de Velasco - Vasilescu, Heus.

Cry "havoc" and let loose the dogs of war! VECCHIO will go to battle in a 3-5-2 formation. Lineup: Rizzuto - Carioca, Chiaroni, Bayer - Pérez, Dali, Oskarsson, Bittar, MacCarvill - Duisburg, Freimuth.

Using their brilliant skill, Basca pushed their attacks towards the wings. For their match strategy, VECCHIO had decided to use their passable ability to counter-attack whenever possible. Slack defending gave Basca a chance to take the lead with 14 minutes played, but D. Vasilescu's cross from the left flank was met gratefully by the opposition who cleared it to safety. D. MacCarvill let loose a good shot after 26 minutes, coming in on a fine move from the left, but the ball went wide. Some things can only be learned through experience, and M. Dali should take his lesson to heart after nearly gifting Basca a goal after 35 minutes. Basca took the lead 38 minutes in, after K. Conroth's awkward, but ultimately successful, shot from the right. 1 - 0. With 41 minutes played, Basca's U. de Velasco received a yellow card for challenging a play with his cleats first. In a fantastic display of determination, VECCHIO's P. Duisburg forced himself to his feet, after an opponent viciously knocked him down. 1 - 0 was the score after the first half. Basca set the tempo, maintaining 63 percent of possession.

The bench was restless, and with 60 minutes gone VECCHIO's coach gave D. Farkas the opportunity to try to change the team's fortunes. E. Bittar reluctantly left the field. D. Farkas became the new VECCHIO captain. Although the whole team were struggling to impress, VECCHIO's P. Duisburg was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the field after 60 minutes. M. Zeisel was given a chance to change things around. A great save by keeper E. Rizzuto with 65 minutes gone kept the visitors in the game after D. Vivas struck from the left with a real cannonball. Coming in from the right, D. Vivas almost managed to score another goal for Basca, but his header was kept out by the lightning fast reflexes of the visiting keeper. Good work by VECCHIO's defensive line after 72 minutes produced a good counter-attack chance, one of which cut elegantly down the middle of the field and found T. Carioca alone in front of the goal, but his shot whistled just wide. Basca put themselves up 2 - 0 when N. Moureaux broke through on the right, leaving the entire defensive delegation behind him. The referee showed VECCHIO's J. Chiaroni the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Attacking on the wings was the theme of the day for Basca, and they were successfully passing the ball outside from the middle. U. Häggbratt could have put Basca up one more, but he fired into the side netting after breaking free on the left after 84 minutes. Basca were doing a good job holding on to the ball, with 61 percent of possession.

Basca's top performer was clearly M. Garbarino. Speaking of stinking up the place, W. Wernecki sure smelled like the bottom of Batman's shoe after a night of crimefighting in Gotham. Most important VECCHIO player was O. Oskarsson. I can't remember M. Zeisel ever having a worse night than he just had. The match ends 2 - 0.
