previous 1/2 next 1/2  Bass 2 - 1 Bunquer (330163016)

The crowd of 21182 turning up at La Estrella de Judith today were greeted with some nasty showers of rain. Frederik Radich Christensen was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Siim Jakuson and Fabio La Torre. Bass tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. Lineup: Juarrero - Amigo, Castilla, Barros - Matute Robres, Mayordomo, Ramírez, Marzal, Toledo - Sisnandes, Sarantis.

A 5-4-1 alignment was the formation of choice for Bunquer. The following players took the field: Meléndez Valdés - Fidalgo, Almunia, Bastiagueiro, Ramírez, Gozalbo - Bühringer, Kandler, Stoichiţă, Kruse - Ivančević.

A. Ramírez received some harsh words from his coach after he acted foolishly 9 minutes into the match, probably out of lack of experience, and almost let an opponent score. The guests took the lead 19 minutes into the match, after a right-side attack resulted in F. Kruse scoring to make it 0 - 1. Bass put pressure on the visitors' central defence 36 minutes into the game, but S. Matute Robres couldn't find an opening. E. Fidalgo was having a great game - if anything the pouring rain seemed to be spurring him on! After a fatal mistake from the away team's right side defence 42 minutes into the match, an alert J. Mayordomo bagged the ball for Bass, levelling the score to 1 - 1. 1 - 1 was the score after the first half. Bass had most of the ball, with 58 percent of possession.

50 minutes of the match played, and a comedy of errors by the home side gave the visitors a chance at the lead, but O. Ivančević, after finding himself dashing down on goal from the left with only the keeper to beat, sliced his shot horribly wide. The crowd was amused as M. Ramírez of Bass used a few interesting tricks and dribbles to get into the penalty box. The finish by J. Toledo wasn't very amusing, however, as the ball flew way over the crossbar. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, L. Sisnandes got himself booked. The manager of Bass was not happy. After a fine move down the middle S. Matute Robres nearly gave the home side a goal after 88 minutes. However the finishing shot went just wide. Bass claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 59 percent.

As neither team had managed to win, extra time was called. Bass's G. Marzal tried to break through in the middle repeatedly, but couldn't get past the visitors' defenders. E. Sarantis gave Bass the lead with a beautiful free kick after 104 minutes. 2 - 1! What a dramatic win for Bass! L. Sisnandes performed admirably for Bass. On the other hand, J. Toledo's play was disheartening. Most important Bunquer player was F. Kruse. P. Meléndez Valdés turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 2 - 1.
