Tanzania 1 - 10 Iran

Clouds darkened the skies at Chuo Kikuu Arena as 81550 spectators turned up for the match. Apollonas Manosaridis was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Fernandas Vygracas and Marc Lustenberger. U-20 Tanzania tactics involved an interesting 5-3-2 combination. They fielded: Wangwe - Ndesamburo, Wasira, Mrema, Ngwilizi, Ngozi - Marmo, Mhina, Lyamba - Sumry, Manyinyi.

U-20 Iran decided to use a 2-5-3 set up. The following players took the field: Heshmatzadeh - Rezaei, Sherafati - Pourheydari, Nasiri, Niazi, Manavi, Aghili - Kasraei, Naji, Ahmadi.

The guests took the lead 3 minutes into the match, after a right-side attack resulted in R. Niazi scoring to make it 0 - 1. H. Nasiri came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle, but his attempted chip over S. Wangwe just kept rising and landed in the relieved crowd. 28 minutes into the game, U-20 Tanzania seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a solid level of organization. The home crowd was not impressed when D. Kasraei came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 31 minutes. U-20 Iran were now up 0 - 2. After this, you could see that U-20 Iran's players were mostly interested in killing time and holding on to their lead. After 32 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as U-20 Tanzania found themselves out of position and their organization level dropped to passable. The away team's R. Manavi took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 34 minutes increasing U-20 Iran's lead to 0 - 3. U-20 Iran's K. Rezaei was shown a yellow card after 35 minutes for slicing down an opponent. Unfortunately for U-20 Tanzania, B. Manyinyi was injured as the game became more physical, and he had to leave the field. J. Sumaye replaced him. U-20 Iran's O. Naji received a ball slotted perfectly through the home side's central defense after 41 minutes, and chipped it past the helpless keeper to increase the lead to 0 - 4. The away fans won't regret traveling for this one! 0 - 4 was the halftime score. The statistics showed U-20 Iran in control of the ball, with 71 percent possession.

The U-20 Tanzania coach might have gone through a whole marker putting the playbook up on the board, but it seemed to have worked, with the team regaining a solid organization for the second half. Although the whole team were struggling to impress, U-20 Tanzania's A. Wasira was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the field after 47 minutes. J. Masilingi was given a chance to change things around. After 47 minutes, W. Marmo sent the corner kick right to S. Mrema who headed it sharply past the keeper. 1 - 4! 50 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 1 - 5 as K. Rezaei finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular bicycle kick. With 60 minutes played, the U-20 Tanzania coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around. E. Mwangonda came on and P. Mhina had to leave the fray. After 60 minutes, the U-20 Iran players received new instructions from their manager on how to stay in control of the game. The U-20 Tanzania players listened closely to their manager, as he gave new tactical instructions for the team. They weren't going to win with their current game plan, so the U-20 Tanzania coach told his players how to change things up 70 minutes in. The U-20 Iran coach was happy with the scoreline, but still wanted to change the lineup. After 70 minutes, M. Abpakhshi came on for D. Kasraei. Content with how the game was proceeding, the U-20 Iran coach let P. Pashazadeh come on for K. Rezaei after 75 minutes. 81 minutes into the match U-20 Iran's H. Pourheydari head butted an opponent, so the referee sent him off immediately. The U-20 Iran captaincy was handed to M. Abpakhshi. Some fine one-two's on the left led to a U-20 Iran goal with 83 minutes gone, making it 1 - 6. R. Manavi was noted down as the scorer. There was concern in the stands when, at the 84 minute mark, U-20 Tanzania's W. Marmo hit the ground hard, but with the help of the trainer's magic spray, he rejoined his teammates on the field. A thrilling play through the middle after 86 minutes gave U-20 Iran's M. Sherafati a chance to increase the lead, and he happily obliged. The score was then 1 - 7. Almost all the way down at the corner flag, U-20 Iran's S. Aghili somehow managed to get a perfect pass into the middle, impossible to miss for M. Abpakhshi, who scored for 1 - 8. After 88 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defense allowed S. Aghili to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors. 1 - 9. The home fans looked somber as they watched their team give up another goal, this one coming from their right as H. Nasiri put one through the keeper's legs. 1 - 10 after 89 minutes. U-20 Iran set the tempo, maintaining 70 percent of possession.

U-20 Tanzania's top performer was clearly J. Sumaye. C. Ngozi was a disappointment, however. The most dominating U-20 Iran player was without a doubt M. Abpakhshi. On the other hand, M. Sherafati's play was disheartening. The match ends 1 - 10.
