14-07-2011 02.15
Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 19071 at
Roses Purples Stadium today.
Dino Fermont was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Roberto Casetti and
Kim Stabel.
Psychedelic decided to use a 4-4-2 set up.
The following players had been chosen: Birolo - Görman, Ruiz Díaz, Gerling, Alderete - Fernández, Pecchinenda, Curcio, Alberdi - Malakian, Scherneski.
Pergamino had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
Lineup: Stevanato - Juez, Rombolá, Pineda - González, Bongiovanni, Cajal, Grazzini, Verdejo Rojas - Yermolenko, Varallo.
Some quick footwork on the left side of the field 16 minutes into the match left Pergamino's
A. Juez completely free to score. 0 - 1 for the visitors.
A scuffle developed as players from both sides clashed following a tussle in the centre of the field 18 minutes into the match. After regaining order and consulting his linesman, the referee called Pergamino's
J. Verdejo Rojas to one side and produced a red card for the player.
The player down was
M. Alberdi. The Psychedelic bench looked worried for a while, but in the end he managed to get up.
With the scoreboard showing that 22 minutes had been played, Pergamino nearly put themselves up another goal after
E. Cajal came through on the left. Fortunately for the home crowd, the keeper made the save.
Psychedelic's
S. Pecchinenda was shown a yellow card after 23 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
A. González increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley away after a pass from the right. 0 - 2.
After 28 minutes, Psychedelic's
E. Birolo fell awkwardly, but was determined to stay in the match. That's the spirit!
Pergamino increased their lead after 31 minutes when
A. González broke through on the right, upping the score to 0 - 3, much to the home crowd's dismay.
After 36 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defence allowed
C. Grazzini to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors. 0 - 4.
By now, the players in Pergamino felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward.
Halftime score was 0 - 4.
Pergamino enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 80 percent of possession.
With 50 minutes played, Pergamino put themselves up 0 - 5 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was
C. Grazzini.
Had it not been for one of the home defenders,
C. Grazzini would have put Pergamino up another goal 58 minutes into the match with his audacious lob from the right wing.
Pergamino's
M. Bongiovanni refused to leave the field after injuring his achilles tendon after 77 minutes.
After 82 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for
M. Bongiovanni who increased Pergamino's lead to 0 - 6.
Pergamino claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 86 percent.
Most important Psychedelic player was
B. Scherneski.
However,
E. Birolo made a disastrous appearance.
Pergamino's top performer was clearly
J. Varallo.
On the other hand,
A. González's play was disheartening.
The match ends 0 - 6.
