previous 8/10 next 10/10  Braux 2 - 0 Hellas (339446682)

23186 spectators had found their way to Stadium Arena, despite the heavy rain. Jean-Luis Zettel was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Rudolf Steinhauser and David Zumiel. A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Braux. The following players took the field: Drielinger - Michael, Askenmar, Mareval - Meron, Mantel, Yanev, Geubel, Moons - Cedeño, Truöl.

Hellas had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. They fielded: Humbert - Blanco, Farnese, Styrman - Gaustad, Zimmer, Puerto, Gurria, Maret - Kets, Ansper.

Hellas took a creative approach on the field. 8 minutes into the game, L. Maret had a great chance to put his team ahead, but his kick from the left went wide. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave A. Puerto from Hellas a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 10 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! S. Farnese slipped and slithered in the wet grass. His usual rapid runs were nowhere to be seen today. 19 minutes into the game, F. Drielinger had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came C. Onkel. The Braux captaincy was handed to A. Meron. After a fine move down the middle B. Yanev nearly gave the home side a goal after 21 minutes. However the finishing shot went just wide. Braux's M. Askenmar was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 22 minutes. Halftime score was 0 - 0. Braux claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 54 percent.

46 minutes into the game, Braux wanted to bring some new energy to their game. C. Moons gave E. Barberà a quick hug as he left the field. As the 51 minute mark approached, the Braux coach decided it was time for a substitution. P. Mantel reluctantly made way for E. Kamla on the pitch. The boggy pitch disrupted the game, especially for technical players like B. Yanev. E. Cedeño acted with superior experience when, 67 minutes into the match, he predicted a pass, intercepted it and then finished off with a goal. 1 - 0 for Braux! Against a lesser team, Braux could very well have succeeded with their smart indirect free kick routine after 68 minutes. A trio of passes took the ball all the way past the defenders, but by then the intended recipient was already blocked off and the keeper could make a leisurely save. A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of Braux to 2 - 0 as E. Cedeño finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle. Braux's A. Meron was shown a yellow card after 84 minutes for slicing down an opponent. Braux enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 56 percent of possession.

Most important Braux player was E. Kamla. C. Onkel on the other hand, had a terrible day. C. Gurria performed admirably for Hellas. However, E. Ansper made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 2 - 0.
