Clear skies welcomed the 17066 spectators who had made their way to MeijerDome. Igor Laušević was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Christian Kvale and Xuban Bakaikoa. GRUNN had chosen a strategic 5-4-1 formation. Lineup: Totev - Finďa, Grootendorst, Schikofsky, Balyon, Sawcer - Czóbel, Muleta, Martini, Pereira - De Baets.

F.C.V.D. started off with a 3-4-3 lineup. The following players had been chosen: Hoyos - Olteanu, Gleisdreieck, Kaisanlahti - Donciu, Bergroth, Mobilia, Toledano - Kiedrzyn, Gapezi, Mužíček.

F.C.V.D. tried to focus their attacks down the middle. What was Z. Sawcer thinking? That's what everyone wondered when, for no apparent reason, he shot a cross pass over his own penalty area, giving D. Donciu an extra chance, but unfortunately for F.C.V.D., he didn't get the shot right. GRUNN created a good opportunity to score 16 minutes into the match when N. De Baets's hooked ball from the left created a scuffle in front of the goal, and the visitors' defenders had a hard time clearing the ball. A mistake by the home side's central defence after 22 minutes allowed H. Toledano to score for F.C.V.D.. The scoreboard now read 0 - 1. F.C.V.D.'s U. Mobilia was shown a yellow card after 34 minutes for slicing down an opponent. In a fantastic display of determination, GRUNN's J. Schikofsky forced himself to his feet, after an opponent viciously knocked him down. GRUNN's I. Muleta placed the ball right at his teammate's feet after a corner, but A. Finďa couldn't finish. H. Toledano of F.C.V.D. took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 44 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 0 - 2. At this point, it was obvious that the players of F.C.V.D. lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. 0 - 2 was the score after the first half. GRUNN claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 52 percent.

Z. Sawcer received some harsh words from his coach after he acted foolishly 72 minutes into the match, probably out of lack of experience, and almost let an opponent score. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave J. Schikofsky from GRUNN a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 77 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! GRUNN's I. Totev had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 78 minutes having been played. S. Grot was the replacement. F.C.V.D.'s J. Bergroth was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 80 minutes. GRUNN had most of the ball, with 54 percent of possession.

GRUNN's top performer was clearly R. Martini. However, S. Grot made a disastrous appearance. Most important F.C.V.D. player was I. Gapezi. D. Donciu was a disappointment, however. The match ends 0 - 2.
