Dark skies made the crowd of 11697 at Aarhus stadion a little nervous, but the rain held off. Hermann Koscholke was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Mosè Maffoni and Artur Wojnar. Gymnastik tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. Leibold to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors. 0 - 2. The visitors' A. Leibold took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 33 minutes into the match. 0 - 3 for Frem. After 35 minutes, Frem's O. Gothenborg fell awkwardly, but was determined to stay in the match. That's the spirit! What was G. Butragueño thinking? That's what everyone wondered when, for no apparent reason, he shot a cross pass over his own penalty area, giving P. Bundgaard an extra chance, but unfortunately for Frem, he didn't get the shot right. Gymnastik didn't give in and with 37 minutes played T. Eşit was able to make the score 1 - 3 after an attack on the right. After 39 minutes, Frem sent a free kick in high over the penalty box. In what looked like a well-rehearsed move, the ball was headed backwards and reached A. Leibold, who had plenty of space to place a well aimed shot - 1 - 4. This third goal completed a hattrick for A. Leibold. Confident in their lead, Frem's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, G. Butragueño got himself booked. The manager of Gymnastik was not happy. The referee showed Frem's T. Storm Jensen the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Gymnastik's C. Møller went down after a savage challenge, but could continue playing after some medical attention. Halftime score was 1 - 4. Frem claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 60 percent.

J. Sielawa wanted to play on, but the Frem coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 46 minutes into the game by V. Bæk. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave H. van de Arend from Gymnastik a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 48 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! O. Gothenborg left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 55 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead. J. Kimose was the replacement. Some fine movement on the left led to a Frem goal after 60 minutes, making it 1 - 5. P. Bundgaard was noted down as the scorer. 62 minutes were showing on the scoreboard when Gymnastik's H. van de Arend received his second yellow card and was sent off. Unfortunately for Frem, J. Kimose was injured when the game became more physical, and he had to leave the field. J. Vest replaced him. Gymnastik's A. Salim startled V. Hoffmann with an unexpected pass. Unfortunately, the receiver was too stunned by the play to convert the perfect setup into a goal. Frem had no available replacements when A. Leibold had to leave the game after 85 minutes because of a pulled tendon, leaving the team a man short. Possession in this half belonged to Frem, who controlled the ball 60 percent of the time.

Most important Gymnastik player was G. Butragueño. I. Hansson turned in a dismal performance, however. H. Glud performed admirably for Frem. However, S. Dürnberger made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 1 - 5.
