30-08-2011 19.30
70725 spectators arrived at
Zlato Univerzitetne lige 2006/2007, where weather conditions were pretty good for football.
Dov Valdman was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Johan Bernin and
Niklas Lüttiken.
All of
Ljubljana was shut down for the day, as fans of both clubs came to the derby.
A 3-4-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Destination.
Lineup: Kovačec - Dundovič, Drnovšek, Cencora - Lifshitz, Brezavšček, Iribi, Macias Ramírez - Jovanovič, Reguila, Yildiz.
štepanc decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
They fielded: Lezama - Borms, Lapi, Bagonis - Nielsen, Hacohen, Tidona, Falkenberg, Vandepaer - Zetber, Botonjič.
Destination clearly preferred using their ability to attack in the middle.
štepanc seemed to prefer attacking in the middle.
Down the middle came
H. Zetber, making a fantastic play that nearly had štepanc take the lead after 19 minutes, but
A. Kovačec preserved the tie.
štepanc players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead.
A. Kovačec looked great 28 minutes into the match after stopping a shot from the middle of the penalty area from the visitors'
U. Lapi.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
H. Dundovič from Destination a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 29 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
štepanc were forced into a substitution as
E. Hacohen couldn't continue due to some rough treatment, forcing
鮑. 程力 (Chengli) to come in off the bench.
It was obvious that team Destination had instructions to attack in the middle instead of on the wings.
U. Lapi came close to putting the visiting team one up 43 minutes into the match, following a solo raid down the middle, but
A. Kovačec managed to tip the ball to a corner.
0 - 0 was the score after the first half.
štepanc had most of the ball, with 58 percent of possession.
Destination were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up centrally.
There was concern in the stands when, at the 71 minute mark, Destination's
J. Macias Ramírez hit the ground hard, but he refused the attention of the trainer and rejoined his teammates on the pitch.
štepanc had several good opportunities to take the lead, especially 79 minutes in when
M. Falkenberg came up alone against
A. Kovačec who managed a block.
After 80 minutes, Destination's lack of experience resulted in the team's loss of their edge at the end of the game.
Possession in this half belonged to štepanc, who controlled the ball 59 percent of the time.
After the regular 90 minutes, the agony of extra time followed.
Despite his frustration resulting in the smashing of a few teacups, the coach of Destination was able to get his message across, and raised Destination's organisation to
solid.
D. Yildiz would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise.
T. Sears entered the game for Destination as the match clock showed 91 minutes.
After the game, the most discussed event will probably be the penalty given after 95 minutes that gave the visitors the 0 - 1 lead. Despite the controversy,
V. Bagonis struck home the penalty, as cool as anything.
With that štepanc had won the game in extra time.
T. Sears performed admirably for Destination.
A. Kovačec turned in a dismal performance, however.
The most dominating štepanc player was without a doubt
H. Zetber.
A. Lezama was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 0 - 1.
