previous 7/10 next 9/10  ATLETICO 10 - 0 SPRINGFIELD (347301452)

The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 265 had shown up at OLIMPICO for the match. Paulo Proença was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Marco Landi and Geoffrey Käller. ATLETICO decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. The following players took the field: Matičić - Abalain, Pinheiro Teixeira, Ostermann - Ferreira, Vejjajiva, Kuśmierz, Vaquero, Soler - Unger, Scheier.

A 5-3-2 alignment was the formation of choice for SPRINGFIELD. The following players had been chosen: Zanchin - Bieshaar, Archetti, Eusebi, Sbalzer, Bagni - Curci, Arbeitman, Pergolillo - Lumini, Cavalli.

After some beautiful movement down the left wing, S. Vejjajiva scored for ATLETICO putting them ahead 1 - 0, after 12 minutes. SPRINGFIELD's G. Curci had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 13 minutes having been played. M. Bortolotti was the replacement. ATLETICO's F. Ferreira increased the lead to 2 - 0, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 21 minutes. Confident in their lead, ATLETICO's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. After 31 minutes, F. Ferreira sprinted between the opposing defenders and squared the ball, but the keeper deflected L. Unger's shot. 39 minutes in, SPRINGFIELD appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only weak. After 40 minutes, F. Ferreira put ATLETICO ahead 3 - 0 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing. SPRINGFIELD's M. Bortolotti was shown a yellow card after 41 minutes for slicing down an opponent. ATLETICO were forced into a substitution as A. Pinheiro Teixeira couldn't continue due to some rough treatment, forcing E. Delman to come in off the bench. R. Archetti neatly controlled the ball after a short corner, and knocked it on to S. Lumini who had the whole net open before him, but only managed to hit the post. With 44 minutes played, ATLETICO put themselves up 4 - 0 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to R. Vaquero, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home. Things were going to get worse for the visitors. L. Unger squirmed through their central defence after 44 minutes, increasing the lead to 5 - 0. 5 - 0 was the score after the first half. ATLETICO had most of the ball, with 75 percent of possession.

The SPRINGFIELD players spent the break getting a rerun of the team's tactical organisation and regained a solid organisation when the game started again. F. Ferreira wanted to play on, but the ATLETICO coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 46 minutes into the game by S. Kirk. K. Kuśmierz increased ATLETICO's lead to 6 - 0 with a penalty spot cannonball. 58 minutes into the match ATLETICO's J. Soler viciously shoved another player from behind while going for a loose ball and was sent off the pitch with a red card. The coach of ATLETICO was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 60 minutes, N. Irusta came on for R. Vaquero. ATLETICO put themselves up 7 - 0 when F. Scheier broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake. ATLETICO were given a gift! The ref dubiously awarded them a penalty 81 minutes into the match, which was neatly put away by K. Kuśmierz. 8 - 0 for the home side. After 83 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and K. Kuśmierz gave the ATLETICO supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 9 - 0. At that, K. Kuśmierz was noted down for a hat trick! 84 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as S. Vejjajiva broke through, making the score 10 - 0 for ATLETICO. ATLETICO claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 73 percent.

ATLETICO's best player was F. Scheier. Ð. Matičić on the other hand, had a terrible day. The most dominating SPRINGFIELD player was without a doubt O. Cavalli. M. Sbalzer was a disappointment, however. The match ends 10 - 0.
