20-09-2011 19.10
The 1047 fans in attendance at
Erasmo Sanguineti were roasting in the hot sun.
Bogdan Cârciumaru was the appointed referee.
A 3-4-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Sampdoria.
The following players had been chosen: Principato - Lerchmüller, Moccia, Ropiak - Rührberg, Verde, Manni, ter Linden - Della Pietra, Cassizzi, Vino.
Mangiatori started off with a 5-3-2 lineup.
Starters: Federici - Yerga, Knutson, Bombardiello, Sborone, Ďurecha - Condorelli, Sarab Talkhi, Vignolini - Ellenrieder, Pangaré.
It was an obvious ambition of Mangiatori to use their ability at attacking on the flanks.
Sampdoria took the lead 3 minutes into the game by 1 - 0, as
J. ter Linden elegantly received a long range pass through the middle, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar.
Sampdoria put in a good effort on the right, but
A. Cassizzi saw his volley fly wide of the mark 13 minutes into the game.
Sampdoria's
A. Moccia saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 23 minutes.
After 26 minutes,
P. Rührberg put Sampdoria ahead 2 - 0 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing.
It was 2 - 0 at the break.
Sampdoria had most of the ball, with 71 percent of possession.
J. Ďurecha behaved like an inexperienced youth player after 57 minutes as he gave the ball away to
P. Rührberg. Lucky for him though, there was no goal.
C. Della Pietra should probably have put his team up another goal after 59 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by
D. Federici kept the visitors in the game.
With 60 minutes played, the Mangiatori coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around.
P. Fevgas came on,
G. Bombardiello had to leave the fray.
C. Della Pietra had a fantastic opportunity to put Sampdoria up another goal 62 minutes into the match, but he fired just over the crossbar.
Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Mangiatori's
N. Sarab Talkhi was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 70 minutes.
G. Ongüneş was given a chance to change things around.
As the captain was no longer on the pitch,
L. Pangaré took over the role of being the Mangiatori captain.
Cheers filled the stadium as
C. Vino broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 3 - 0 to Sampdoria.
At this point, it was obvious that the players of Sampdoria lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented.
It was a hot and sunny day, and several players seemed worn out. Maybe this was why
C. Della Pietra found an unusual amount of space for his snappy footwork.
84 minutes into the match, Mangiatori replied and reduced the lead to 3 - 1.
M. Condorelli scored on a marvellous cross pass coming in from the left.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
J. Ďurecha from Mangiatori a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 85 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
Sampdoria were forced into a substitution as
R. Manni couldn't continue due to some rough treatment, forcing
A. Limroth to come in off the bench.
A. Lerchmüller became the new Sampdoria captain.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Sampdoria, with 69 percent of the ball.
C. Della Pietra performed admirably for Sampdoria.
S. Principato was a disappointment, however.
Mangiatori's best player was
M. Condorelli.
However,
G. Ongüneş made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 3 - 1.
