Whimsical used their ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings. Whimsical took the lead after 7 minutes as a result of N. Rhydderch's peach of a shot from the right hand side of the box - placed beautifully in the top corner. 1 - 0. Whimsical will have to do without N. Rhydderch for a time, due to a bad foot injury at the 8 minute mark. He was substituted by M. Beach. With 10 minutes played, Whimsical put themselves up 2 - 0 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to E. Lieske, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home. E. Verweij had a fantastic opportunity to put Whimsical up another goal 11 minutes into the match, but he fired just over the crossbar. 13 minutes into the game, Whimsical were awarded a penalty that I. Jouttimäki turned into 3 - 0 without a problem. By now, the players in Whimsical felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward. The home side's T. Schneider came close to extending the lead 21 minutes into the game. His shot came in from the right hand side but L. González Vado managed to save it with an unbelievable reaction stop. A corner kick created great disorder in the penalty area with a goal nearly scored by T. Schneider. At last, Whimsical's M. Beach was able to backheel the ball in. 4 - 0. 4 - 0 was the score after the first half. Whimsical had most of the ball, with 85 percent of possession.

After 69 minutes, Whimsical were awarded a free kick. Rather than shooting straight at goal, the taker went for an indirect variant which seemed to take his team mates a bit by surprise. E. Verweij did attempt a finish, but from an awkward position, sending the ball into the away fans. A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Whimsical's E. Lieske increasing the lead to 5 - 0. 77 minutes in, Whimsical's T. Schneider received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. After 78 minutes a well-practised indirect free kick routine by Whimsical was easily anticipated by the defenders. The players forward were so well marked, they were left with few viable options. 83 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as E. Lieske broke through, making the score 6 - 0 for Whimsical. That made three goals for E. Lieske and he was marked down for the hat trick. After 86 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and E. Verweij gave the Whimsical supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 7 - 0.
