Athletic 2 - 1 ɐuǝsʇǝsıɐ (350635948)

Dark skies made the crowd of 29283 at Il Tempio a little nervous, but the rain held off. Jorge Bañuelos was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Krzysztof Maciocha and Heikki Torkko. Athletic tactics involved an interesting 5-2-3 combination. Lineup: Ricca - Viggiani, Batha, Altomare, Kasza, Li Mandri - Minx, Argenta - Olszanowski, Di Pierdomenico, Bakker.

ɐuǝsʇǝsıɐ decided to use a 5-2-3 set up. Starters: Pongo - Macháň, Guixà, Dennis, Guldberg, Helm - Balbuena, Creamer - Élice, Radivojević, Boita.

Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for Athletic. ɐuǝsʇǝsıɐ were relying on their ability to counter-attack. M. Radivojević of ɐuǝsʇǝsıɐ displayed some of his fantastic technical abilities when he brought the ball down neatly using his instep before nutmegging the bewildered G. Li Mandri and smashing an unstoppable shot past the goalkeeper to make it 0 - 1. The referee showed Athletic's B. Altomare the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. ɐuǝsʇǝsıɐ's D. Macháň got himself booked for a foul. With a shot curled in from just outside the middle of the penalty area after 24 minutes played, D. Di Pierdomenico of Athletic made the score 1 - 1. With the match clock at 29 minutes, Athletic modified their style of play a little bit. After 30 minutes, the Athletic coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving D. Di Pierdomenico off the field. L. Nasi took his place. The coach of Athletic wanted to try to change things around after 31 minutes, and gave new tactical instructions. Halftime score was 1 - 1. ɐuǝsʇǝsıɐ enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 51 percent of possession.

After 49 minutes Athletic tried to exploit their counterattacking skills, unfortunately, P. Olszanowski's shot sailed wide after his break down the right. L. Nasi would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise. D. Garella entered the game for Athletic as the match clock showed 55 minutes. Athletic took the lead 72 minutes in, as P. Olszanowski broke through on the left and put the 2 - 1 shot just beyond the reach of the outstretched keeper. Content with how the game was proceeding, the Athletic coach let D. Rottensteiner replace D. Garella after 80 minutes. Possession of the ball saw an equal split between the teams during the forty-five minutes.

The most dominating Athletic player was without a doubt G. Li Mandri. On the other hand, D. Rottensteiner's play was disheartening. Most important ɐuǝsʇǝsıɐ player was S. Élice. However, N. Pongo made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 2 - 1.
