previous 9/10 next 1/10  Escoria 3 - 2 Dinamo (352191227)

Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 11248 at Escorianos stadium today. Xaver Lüdemann was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Ataúlfo Portales and Werner Bokhove. Escoria started off with a 4-4-2 lineup. Lineup: Orfila - Kroc, Fourmy, Mesones, Huch - Kärrsten, Năstase, Vierelä, Iván - Marosits, Stolk.

Dinamo had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation. Starters: Cancer - Herrera, Stahmer, Granalosa, Dudon - Godinho, Valkhof, Khuldi, Khan - Spann, Todorov.

Escoria immediately set off using their skill at pressing their opponents. After 24 minutes Dinamo's N. Dudon limped slightly after a late challenge, but he was able to continue. After 26 minutes, Dinamo's G. Khuldi made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 0 - 1. R. Stahmer of Dinamo received a yellow card after 30 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. 37 minutes in, and Escoria were able to score the equalising goal to make it 1 - 1 when P. Kärrsten picked up a pass coming in from the right and chipped it past the away team's keeper. Escoria took the lead 38 minutes in, as R. Stolk broke through on the left and put the 2 - 1 shot just beyond the reach of the outstretched keeper. Escoria's talent at pressing frustrated the spectators as the game became a dire midfield struggle. It was 2 - 1 at the break. Escoria had most of the ball, with 53 percent of possession.

S. Granalosa made a good effort at breaking through on the right, but the home team's left defence cleared the ball to a corner. Escoria's M. Marosits had an excellent opportunity after 74 minutes, shooting after receiving a pass from the right hand side, but he missed the goal by miles! P. Kärrsten increased Escoria's lead to 3 - 1 with a penalty spot cannonball. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, N. Dudon got himself booked. The manager of Dinamo was not happy. Escoria's J. Orfila had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 82 minutes having been played. T. Biedenweg was the replacement. The home team's fans were upset when, after 84 minutes, the visiting A. Todorov broke through the central defence and kicked the ball past the keeper. 3 - 2 was the score. Dinamo enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 57 percent of possession.

Most important Escoria player was D. Iván. T. Biedenweg on the other hand, had a terrible day. The most dominating Dinamo player was without a doubt A. Todorov. P. Valkhof was a disappointment, however. The match ends 3 - 2.
