The 21903 spectators at Sportpark Am Hallo were in for an afternoon of sunshine. Mikael Carlsson was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Darius Putter and Moisés Suárez. Stoppenberg started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. They fielded: Pröpper - Mosca, Janyška, Eymüller - Konijn, Haimi, Bailer, Lackermeier, Vasiljević - Suárez, Gorun.

Schwalben tactics involved an interesting 3-4-3 combination. The following players had been chosen: Woehnl - Brejcha-Gschöpf, Rudawski, Dambrain - Stampfer, Stubner, Vetturi, Zucchetta - Majgier, Billerbeck, Eichelberger.

Schwalben took the lead 5 minutes into the game, making the score 0 - 1 after some elegant movement down the middle. R. Majgier was the scorer. After 19 minutes of play, D. Lackermeier evened things up for Stoppenberg with an impressive goal coming up the middle. 1 - 1. 1 - 2 was the score with 24 minutes played, after R. Majgier cut through the central defence and chipped home a goal for Schwalben. 1 - 2 was the halftime score. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Stoppenberg, with 56 percent of the ball.

It wasn't a good day at all for S. Billerbeck. His powerful style of play just didn't fit the bill on this warm day. With 79 minutes played, W. Stubner of Schwalben fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. 82 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 1 - 3 as R. Majgier finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick. That was his third goal of the match - a hat trick for R. Majgier. Stoppenberg enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 54 percent of possession.

The most dominating Stoppenberg player was without a doubt D. Bailer. A. Konijn was a disappointment, however. W. Stubner performed admirably for Schwalben. However, S. Billerbeck made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 1 - 3.
