previous 7/10 next 9/10  FCmetz 1 - 0 RACING (354375266)

A brilliantly sunny day had enticed a crowd of 13364 to St Symphorien. Grigoris Gagalidis was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Tsugahara Mizumaki and Antonio Cassano. FCmetz started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. The following players had been chosen: Guerriero - Matějek, Adin, Latuszek - Walter, Cotegipe, Condrea, Dodemond, Campestre - Apell, Muñoz.

A 3-4-3 alignment was the formation of choice for RACING. They fielded: Shpringer - Bouglia, Asmussen, Didon - Gal, Demoustier, Kapoyiannopoulos, Regis - van der Wilt, Blänkner, Mutavdžić.

With 9 minutes played J. Campestre almost put the home team one ahead on a cross coming in from the right, but the shot went just wide. At 13 minutes played, J. Apell came in from the right with the intention of giving FCmetz the lead, but his rocket of a shot rattled the crossbar. J. Matějek's technique was perfect on this sunny day and led to some breathtaking tricks that bamboozled the defence. 0 - 0 was the score after the first half. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by RACING, with 52 percent of the ball.

I. Condrea would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise. J. Vappula entered the game for FCmetz as the match clock showed 62 minutes. 76 minutes into the game, FCmetz wanted to bring some new energy to their game. S. Dodemond gave K. Manohar a quick hug as he left the field. It wasn't a good day at all for D. Regis. His powerful style of play just didn't fit the bill on this warm day. Y. Kapoyiannopoulos wasn't much help defensively. His energy-consuming forward runs proved quite costly in the oppressive heat. FCmetz had to make a substitution after 89 minutes. D. Walter limped off the field and was replaced by M. Lopes Pinto. J. Latuszek gave FCmetz the lead with a beautiful free kick after 89 minutes. 1 - 0! Y. Adin of FCmetz was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. FCmetz enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 56 percent of possession.

Most important FCmetz player was D. Muñoz. M. Lopes Pinto was a disappointment, however. RACING's top performer was clearly F. Didon. B. Shpringer on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 1 - 0.
