23445 spectators had found their way to Toca do Lagarto, despite the heavy rain. Darren Wynne was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Johannes Stjerne and Ulrik Flamstål. CFA tactics involved an interesting 4-5-1 combination. They fielded: Laks - Hartland, Niedoba, Lagerin, Vega Collantes - Langlotz, Zanchetta, Haas, Zambrotta, Hong - Paccagnella.

CFA saw most attack opportunities on the wings. R. Langlotz made a nice dash down the wing after 20 minutes, but was unable to get the cross into the box. A goal kick was awarded. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave P. Plenborg from Lagarto a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 21 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! A loud groan was heard from the fans of CFA, as L. Zanchetta left the pitch in too much pain to finish the match. E. van de Woestijne took his place on the field. A. Marinho slipped and slithered in the wet grass. His usual rapid runs were nowhere to be seen today. The home crowd was not impressed by the fancy moves of CFA's E. Vega Collantes after 30 minutes. He converted a pass from the left for a goal, resulting in the visitors taking the 0 - 1 lead. 34 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 0 - 2 as M. Hartland finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick. It was 0 - 2 at the break. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by CFA, with 56 percent of the ball.

Against a lesser team, CFA could very well have succeeded with their smart indirect free kick routine after 47 minutes. A trio of passes took the ball all the way past the defenders, but by then the intended recipient was already blocked off and the keeper could make a leisurely save. C. Blasa challenged the visitors' central defence eagerly, producing a good chance 49 minutes into the game as he went for a through ball. But, as so many times before, the guests' defensive efforts got the best of it. With 68 minutes played, CFA put themselves up 0 - 3 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was E. van de Woestijne. At this point, it was obvious that the players of CFA lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. The visitors nearly scored again after 75 minutes, but a superb save by C. Madruga kept T. Hong's free kick out of the net. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, E. Zambrotta got himself booked. The manager of CFA was not happy. CFA had most of the ball, with 51 percent of possession.

Most important Lagarto player was A. Verboom. A. Marinho turned in a dismal performance, however. CFA's top performer was clearly R. Langlotz. However, P. Laks made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 0 - 3.
