Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 59755 to
Lest We Forget.
Gaël Mouysset was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Ben Petrilla and
Dany Michel.
Warrior decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
They fielded: Espinheiro - Kiong Jing, Mat Aris, Burdaev - Huat An, 永坤 (Yongkun), 双康 (Shuangkang) , 子洋 (Ziyang), 名舰 (Mingjian) - Ryan, Ringen.
North tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination.
Lineup: Won-Min - bin Che Rusli, Yeou-Chyi, Chao-Wen, Man-Bon - Chung-Kei, Hei-Wai, Cheok-Hsin, Xing - bin Abu Bakar, Hao.
Warrior took a creative approach on the field.
Warrior took the lead 14 minutes into the game by 1 - 0, as
M. Ryan elegantly received a long range pass through the middle, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar.
17 minutes into the game,
庞. 名舰 (Mingjian) had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came
M. bin Hashim.
After 18 minutes,
M. Ryan put Warrior ahead 2 - 0 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing.
Some things can only be learned through experience, and
M. Mat Aris should take his lesson to heart after nearly gifting North a goal with 31 minutes of the match played.
Warrior's
A. Ringen increased the lead to 3 - 0, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 33 minutes.
Given a free kick close to the byline, Warrior tried a move that loyal fans may recognise from training. A pass to the side pulled the defence out of position which let
M. bin Hashim slip through on goal. He didn't have to break his stride, and slipped the ball past the keeper to make it 4 - 0, 35 minutes into the game.
The players of Warrior now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle.
After 40 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and
何. 双康 (Shuangkang) gave the Warrior supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 5 - 0.
5 - 0 was the score after the first half.
Possession in this half belonged to Warrior, who controlled the ball 83 percent of the time.
A corner kick created great disorder in the penalty area with a goal nearly scored by
F. Huat An. At last, Warrior's
M. Mat Aris was able to backheel the ball in. 6 - 0.
M. Mat Aris wanted to play on, but the Warrior coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 60 minutes into the game by
M. Hagelen.
Warrior put themselves up 7 - 0 when
S. Burdaev broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake.
A. Ringen of Warrior was able to make an impressive rush past the sluggish
K. Chao-Wen, which resulted in a goal making the score 8 - 0.
A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Warrior's
F. Huat An increasing the lead to 9 - 0.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
M. bin Che Rusli from North a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 76 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
Coming from the right,
M. Ryan almost managed to score another goal for Warrior, but his header was tipped over the bar by the visitors' keeper.
A. Ringen increased the lead for Warrior to 10 - 0, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it!
By then
A. Ringen had scored three goals - a hat trick!
M. bin Hashim should probably have put his team up another goal after 86 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by
C. Won-Min kept the visitors in the game.
Warrior's
A. Ringen was shown a yellow card after 87 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
There was concern in the stands when, at the 88 minute mark, North's
J. Man-Bon hit the ground hard, but he refused the attention of the trainer and rejoined his teammates on the pitch.
Warrior claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 85 percent.
The most dominating Warrior player was without a doubt
何. 双康 (Shuangkang) .
F. Huat An on the other hand, had a terrible day.
North's top performer was clearly
S. Hei-Wai.
C. Won-Min turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 10 - 0.
