12000 spectators arrived at
Gaebong Arena, where weather conditions were pretty good for football.
Mark Eggquist was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Marc Matewhitu and
Josef Nachbaur.
Gaebong started off with a 4-4-2 lineup.
The following players had been chosen: Park - Lee, Lee, Jung, Jung - Jung, Song, Kwon, Ahn - Kang, Lee.
A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for KfinalK.
They fielded: Kim - Yun, Park, Lee, Lim - Kim, Son, Kwon, Jung - Huh, Eo.
Gaebong were very close to putting themselves one up after 5 minutes as
S. Lee got through on the left, but failing in concentration, he shot the ball wide.
The most controversial moment of the game was likely the penalty given after 7 minutes. KfinalK's
W. Yun kept his concentration, despite the upset crowd, and calmly put the ball past the keeper to make the score 0 - 1.
With 13 minutes gone, a long pass from the defence of Gaebong resulted in a counterattack that set
T. Jung free through the middle, but the keeper made a spectacular diving save.
KfinalK's
B. Kim had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 14 minutes having been played.
J. Lee was the replacement.
J. Lee increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley away after a pass from the right. 0 - 2.
At this point, it was obvious that the players of KfinalK lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented.
Had it not been for one of the home defenders,
D. Kwon would have put KfinalK up another goal 22 minutes into the match with his audacious lob from the right wing.
Halftime score was 0 - 2.
KfinalK claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 53 percent.
Gaebong's fans were urging them forward as they tried to get back into the game, and their vocal support was rewarded 47 minutes into the match as
S. Lee ran onto a beautiful ball played through the visitors' defence and slotted it past the keeper to reduce the deficit. 1 - 2.
Gaebong's
M. Kang left the field after 50 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was
S. Kim.
Y. Park kept the home side in the game with a magnificent save when
W. Yun delivered an almost perfect free kick to the far post.
After 75 minutes,
S. Kim made a dash down the middle past the away team's defenders to score the goal that made it 2 - 2.
The home crowd breathed a collective sigh of relief when
J. Lee was unable to put the ball in the net after his show of skill down the left 78 minutes into the match. He was seen beating the pitch in frustration at missing such a good chance to give his team the lead!
KfinalK had most of the ball, with 57 percent of possession.
Gaebong's top performer was clearly
S. Lee.
However,
Y. Park made a disastrous appearance.
I. Jung performed admirably for KfinalK.
S. Park on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 2 - 2.
