previous 1/10 next 3/10  Serenade 2 - 1 Solsidans (357161946)

A scorching day at Asbury Park, where 35841 spectators were in place for today's match. Roy Vervoort was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Vincent Stienne and Ciske Grendel. A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Serenade. Starters: Wahlflod - Gunnarsson, Beckin, Larsson - Örnstrand, Zasadni, Milijaš, Boitano, Apel - Flodskog, Olofsson.

Solsidans decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. They fielded: Dincã - Tuvtorp, Frăsinescu, Bahmer - Jensen, Pejtersen, García Soler, Račiauskas, Jannsen - Barreto, De Biase.

Serenade clearly preferred using their ability to attack in the middle. A lovely run by Solsidans's H. Jensen left his markers for dead and should have resulted in a goal, but the finish went just wide. 23 minutes in, the referee awarded Serenade a penalty. S. Beckin coolly slotted it home for a 1 - 0 lead. Several players seemed a little dazed by the warm weather, and were repeatedly tricked by the clever and agile M. Flodskog. Serenade's M. Flodskog swung in a good chance from the left, but the visitors' defence were able to clear the ball. A penalty 34 minutes into the game gave the home side a chance at adding to the score, but an overconfident S. Beckin shot the ball wide trying to put it away in the top corner. The visitors' equaliser seemed sure to come after 37 minutes, following a one on one situation around the left hand side of the goal area, but K. Wahlflod got the best of it, blocking the shot from P. Barreto. With 41 minutes played, O. Milijaš could have brought this one home for Serenade as he charged up on the left, but his hooked ball went just a bit too high. Halftime score was 1 - 0. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Serenade, with 57 percent of the ball.

An equalising goal seemed certain after 51 minutes when Ž. Račiauskas attacked down the left wing, but K. Wahlflod just managed to make a save to keep the ball out of the net. Serenade had to make a substitution after 65 minutes. O. Milijaš limped off the field and was replaced by C. Brandstrup. H. Jensen's speed is always a threat when he gets a little room to move, and 68 minutes into the match was no different as he broke free of his man to send a delightful through ball to P. De Biase who knocked it in for Solsidans. 1 - 1! Serenade fans held their breath as M. Örnstrand scampered down the left side. He successfully avoided all challenges and cracked home the shot for 2 - 1! Serenade enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 55 percent of possession.

The most dominating Serenade player was without a doubt M. Flodskog. However, C. Brandstrup made a disastrous appearance. Solsidans's best player was S. Pejtersen. On the other hand, H. Jensen's play was disheartening. The match ends 2 - 1.
