05-02-2012 20.00
Dark skies made the crowd of 31100 at
Stadium a la Panne a little nervous, but the rain held off.
Pelle Nørager was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Tamser Bleuten and
Hadamar Bareyre.
Panne started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
The following players had been chosen: Benavides - Kent, Cana, Aktün - Ibn-Akram, Benavent, Ligtenberg, Weltevreden, Nabuurs - Jauhonen, Porter.
Pro had chosen a strategic 5-3-2 formation.
Lineup: van Wezel - Becht, Elburg, Kievit, van Arendonk, Aupperlee - Duister, Beynen, Fernhout - Brinkkemper, Kops.
G. Brinkkemper came close to putting the visiting team one up 27 minutes into the match, following a solo raid down the middle, but
E. Benavides managed to tip the ball to a corner.
Panne fans held their breath as
S. Ibn-Akram scampered down the left side. He successfully avoided all challenges and cracked home the shot for 1 - 0!
37 minutes in, Pro's
M. Becht received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first.
38 minutes in, Pro appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only
passable.
T. Aktün should probably have put his team up another goal after 39 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by
R. van Wezel kept the visitors in the game.
40 minutes into the game, Pro seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to
passable.
Panne's
J. Jauhonen saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 41 minutes.
Panne managed to extend their lead to 2 - 0 when
J. Jauhonen cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper.
Confident in their lead, Panne's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it.
The referee showed Panne's
J. Jauhonen the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
After 44 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as Pro found themselves out of position and their organisation level dropped to
inadequate.
Halftime score was 2 - 0.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Panne, with 65 percent of the ball.
Despite his frustration resulting in the smashing of a few teacups, the coach of Pro was able to get his message across, and raised Pro's organisation to
solid.
A corner kick created great disorder in the penalty area with a goal nearly scored by
J. Fernhout. At last, Pro's
H. Kops was able to backheel the ball in. 2 - 1.
After 72 minutes Panne's
F. Cana limped slightly after a late challenge, but he was able to continue.
After 80 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by
J. Jauhonen might have resulted in another goal for Panne. However,
R. van Wezel made a spectacular save.
82 minutes into the game, Pro seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a
weak level of organisation.
R. van Wezel was caught napping as
S. Ibn-Akram lifted a ball over him following a free kick, but the ball hit the bar, rebounding into the keeper's arms.
Possession in this half belonged to Panne, who controlled the ball 73 percent of the time.
Most important Panne player was
J. Benavent.
A. Kent turned in a dismal performance, however.
The most dominating Pro player was without a doubt
H. Kops.
However,
M. Becht made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 2 - 1.
