40000 punters turned up at Mollenmatt Park, and despite threatening clouds on the horizon, no rain came. Kennet Laue Friis was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Ralph Schwegler and Menno Gijsberts. Mollenmatt started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. The following players took the field: Grotter - van Buuren, Kurti, Schopphoven - Chirico, Gurkevicz, Haagen, Monda, Calcagno - Schläpfer, Landahl.

A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Vorwärts. Lineup: Igellund - Di Gianfrancesco, Hoeland, Ramos García - Meusburger, Witzmann, Greinstetter, Rupprecht, Grosnille - Kasper, Catană.

After 7 minutes, Vorwärts's M. Witzmann made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 0 - 1. After 7 minutes, the Vorwärts players received new instructions from their manager on how to keep in control of the game. E. van Buuren got left behind when Vorwärts's J. Grosnille made a sudden run forward after 14 minutes, finishing off with a neat strike. 0 - 2! After 15 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave M. Catană a chance to increase the lead for Vorwärts, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 3. At this point, it was obvious that the players of Vorwärts lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. The bench was restless, and with 22 minutes passed Mollenmatt's coach gave C. Luchetti the opportunity the player had been hoping for. R. Grotter reluctantly left the field. A drive down the left side allowed A. Di Gianfrancesco to get in close and score another goal for Vorwärts after 27 minutes, taking the score to 0 - 4. With 28 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed S. Kasper of Vorwärts to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 0 - 5. Halftime score was 0 - 5. Vorwärts had most of the ball, with 59 percent of possession.

The referee signalled a penalty 48 minutes into the game following an offence which looked like it was outside the box. M. Catană knocked it home to make the score 0 - 6. Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Mollenmatt's W. Chirico was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 50 minutes. M. Zimnicki was given a chance to change things around. M. Zimnicki of Mollenmatt was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. The local team's free kick specialist L. Kurti, reduced the away team's lead to 1 - 6 with a humdinger of a shot after 76 minutes. With 78 minutes gone, Vorwärts had a free kick in a decent position. Despite this being a great chance for a shot, they tried a cheeky move intended to bypass the defence. However, S. Kasper did not manage to connect with it cleanly and the ball went out. Mollenmatt needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 80 minutes G. Schläpfer made way for S. Berry. Vorwärts increased the lead to 1 - 7 as M. Catană scored from the penalty spot, putting the ball in near the top left corner. That was his third goal of the match - a hat trick for M. Catană. Vorwärts claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 56 percent.

The most dominating Mollenmatt player was without a doubt F. Landahl. E. van Buuren turned in a dismal performance, however. J. Greinstetter performed admirably for Vorwärts. A. Hoeland on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 1 - 7.
