The crowd of 1418 turning up at
MACHADO ANIQUILADOR today were greeted with some nasty showers of rain.
Anzor Mumladze was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Thimo Daamen and
Franz Pauli-Pitschetsrieder.
LENHADORES started off with a 3-5-1 lineup.
The following players took the field: Mascarenhas - Brunskroog, Paland, Szurek - Chiaro, Varela Dias, Bessa, Nonato, Aguillar - Góis.
Sportivo tactics involved an interesting 3-4-3 combination.
The following players had been chosen: Carmosino - Fernández, Carloni, Rosa - Di Cristofano, Küderli, Pinto, Galan - Kurgan, Chiezzi Porrini, Ruiz Cámara.
LENHADORES clearly preferred using their ability to attack in the middle.
Today, Sportivo's strategy involved concentrating on the flanks for their attacks.
Sportivo's
M. Küderli got himself booked for a foul.
In a fantastic display of determination, LENHADORES's
C. Mascarenhas forced himself to his feet, after an opponent viciously knocked him down.
Sportivo played a good counterattacking move down the left 8 minutes into the match, with
E. Chiezzi Porrini finishing well for 0 - 1.
M. Küderli spent most of the time in a heap on the ground today, his normally rapid movement hindered by the slippery pitch.
Some fine movement on the left led to a Sportivo goal after 18 minutes, making it 0 - 2.
E. Rosa was noted down as the scorer.
The players of Sportivo now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle.
25 minutes into the game, LENHADORES had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to
inadequate.
After 37 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as LENHADORES found themselves out of position and their organisation level dropped to
weak.
The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 2.
Sportivo claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 51 percent.
A review of the gameplan helped LENHADORES get back to a
passable organisation when the referee blew his whistle again.
E. Chiezzi Porrini was uncomfortable with the soggy pitch as he couldn't move the ball around with his usual grace.
Central attacks were the recipe of the day for LENHADORES, as they moved the ball from the wings to the middle with startling regularity.
65 minutes into the game, LENHADORES seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to
weak.
The home side worked hard to get through the middle and as a result, had a good chance of getting one back as
E. Bessa tried lifting the ball over keeper
P. Carmosino. Unfortunately, the ball went just over the bar.
Neither team were able to dominate possession this half.
Most important LENHADORES player was
K. Brunskroog.
C. Mascarenhas turned in a dismal performance, however.
M. Küderli performed admirably for Sportivo.
M. Fernández on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 0 - 2.
