previous 6/10 next 8/10  FCF 0 - 1 CFC (362910237)

It was an exceptionally sunny day for the crowd of 1523 that came out to fc_pipec Arena. Ronny Georges was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Alexey Fedorov and Peer Zollstock. FCF had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. The following players took the field: Antosiak - Rekhin, Sigurjónsson, Nischenko - Davidsson, Borovoy, Suárez, Nofsinger, Ismailov - Parfenov, Simutenkov.

A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for CFC. They fielded: Molęda - Czoch, Chwastek, Flakowski - Fernandes Pereira, Telaeche, Ireton, Goval, Bartolini - Yanke, Borgo.

It was an obvious ambition of CFC to use their ability at attacking on the flanks. After 15 minutes FCF's E. Suárez contracted a slight foot injury, but didn't want to leave the game. Making his way up the middle 26 minutes into the match, E. Suárez almost managed to squeeze a goal past the visitors' keeper, but the alert B. Molęda blocked it to keep the score level. Slack defending gave FCF a chance to take the lead with 37 minutes played, but A. Sigurjónsson's cross from the left flank was fumbled in front of the goal and easily dealt with by the opposition. 0 - 0 was the halftime score. FCF claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 69 percent.

As the 73 minute mark approached, the CFC coach decided it was time for a substitution. R. Yanke reluctantly made way for T. Wronecki on the pitch. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave A. Borgo from CFC a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 76 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! Possession in this half belonged to FCF, who controlled the ball 62 percent of the time.

After the regular 90 minutes, the agony of extra time followed. With 96 minutes gone, FCF had a free kick in a decent position. Despite this being a great chance for a shot, they tried a cheeky move intended to bypass the defence. However, S. Ismailov did not manage to connect with it cleanly and the ball went out. CFC's K. Flakowski gave the visitors a 0 - 1 lead after 97 minutes with a superb strike from the right. Extra time over, CFC were the victors! H. Nofsinger performed admirably for FCF. However, J. Davidsson made a disastrous appearance. CFC's best player was A. Borgo. On the other hand, K. Flakowski's play was disheartening. The match ends 0 - 1.
