C.F. 7 - 0 P.A.C.

It was an exceptionally sunny day for the crowd of 1897 that came out to 7up. Jarno de Roock was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Per Eder and Matías Sivisky. C.F. decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. They fielded: Tamay - Gorostegui, Elizabelar, Mauri Argudo - Marina, Osica, Strano, Pelegrino, Bradshaw - van der Aa, Lanus García.

P.A.C. tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. Starters: Zobel - Radid, Passchier, Voorsluijs - Silvius, Damink, Locke, van Egmond, Mol - Wouters, Hueting.

C.F. clearly preferred using their ability to attack in the middle today. P.A.C. concentrated their attacks in the middle of the field, rather than on the wings. After 4 minutes, following yet another great corner, F. Strano knocked the ball to C. Bradshaw but it was just too high and the shot came off his shin. After a fine move down the middle C. Lanus García nearly put the home side one up with 7 minutes played. His final touch escaped him though and the keeper smothered the ball. After 12 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as P.A.C. found themselves out of position and their organization level dropped to weak. With 31 minutes played, C.F.'s J. Gorostegui received a yellow card for challenging a play with his cleats first. Almost all the way down at the corner flag, C.F.'s C. Bradshaw somehow managed to get a perfect pass into the middle, impossible to miss for C. Lanus García, who scored for 1 - 0. C.F. added another goal to their lead as J. Osica struck home for 2 - 0 after an attack from the left set him up unmarked in front of the keeper. Things were going from bad to worse for the visitors. S. van der Aa was able to squirm through the central defense after 38 minutes and score, bringing the lead to 3 - 0. By now, the players of C.F. felt that victory was a sure thing and began to play it safe, focusing on defense and not risking too much going forward. After 39 minutes, C.F. were awarded a free kick. Rather than shooting straight at goal, the kicker went for an indirect variant which seemed to take his teammates a bit by surprise. J. Marina did manage a finish, but from an awkward position, sending the ball out of bounds. It was 3 - 0 at the break. Today's special guest, The Ohio State University Marching Band, spelled out "77" to signify that C.F. had 77 percent possession.

The P.A.C. coach might have gone through a whole marker putting the playbook up on the board, but it seemed to have worked, with the team regaining a solid organization for the second half. C. Lanus García increased C.F.'s lead to 4 - 0, connecting with a hooked ball from the right. The away fans are claiming handball, to no avail. 52 minutes into the game, P.A.C. had difficulty finding their positions and their organization dropped to inadequate. A great save by keeper C. Zobel with 68 minutes gone kept the visitors in the game after F. Strano struck from the left with a real cannonball. Big paper red cards were being held up by the opposing supporters with 69 minutes on the clock after F. Locke's mistimed tackle from behind. The referee only showed the P.A.C. player a yellow card though. C.F.'s J. Marina was shown a yellow card after 74 minutes for slicing down an opponent. W. Franssen did some final stretches before entering the game as P.A.C.'s trainer helped R. van Egmond off the field after an injury. The clock read 77 minutes and things were deteriorating for the away team as C.F. scored another to make it 5 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for I. Mauri Argudo. 86 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defense had to look on as J. Osica ran straight through, knocking one home to make it 6 - 0 for C.F.. After 87 minutes, C.F.'s C. Lanus García successfully broke up a pass with his face. Instinctively, he got up again only to unintentionally use his now-throbbing schnozz to break up a second pass. As he was carted off for a concussion check, L. Mahr ran onto the field to take his place. As the captain was no longer on the field, F. Strano took over the role for C.F.. C.F. managed to extend their lead to 7 - 0 when C. Bradshaw slid in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. C.F. were doing a good job holding on to the ball, with 78 percent of possession.

Most important C.F. player was F. Strano. On the other hand, J. Marina's play was disheartening. The most outstanding P.A.C. player was without a doubt A. Radid. However, C. Zobel made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 7 - 0.
