Brown had a good try after 5 minutes, coming in on a fine move from the left, but the ball went wide. 6 minutes into the game, H. Hawlitzky had a great chance to put his team ahead, but his kick from the left went wide. The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to J. Furch, but the JohnnyReb player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 1 - 0! T. Lecharlier could have increased the lead after 19 minutes, but his shot hit the post after a nice combination in the middle of the park. Halftime score was 1 - 0. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by JohnnyReb, with 54 percent of the ball.

JohnnyReb solidified their lead at the 48 minute mark, as S. Crommelin dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 2 - 0. JohnnyReb had to make a substitution after 73 minutes. S. Crommelin limped off the field and was replaced by T. Bentley. 78 minutes into the game, Devils's attack got through on the right, but F. Hardenbol couldn't handle the ball and his feeble kick wound up in the keeper's arms. The referee showed Devils's M. Caputi the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. J. Furch had a fantastic opportunity to put JohnnyReb up another goal 87 minutes into the match, but he fired just over the crossbar. The home team's fans were upset when, after 87 minutes, the visiting F. Hardenbol broke through the central defence and kicked the ball past the keeper. 2 - 1 was the score. In a rapid move 88 minutes into the match, H. Hawlitzky of Devils lost his man and passed the ball to the unmarked F. Hardenbol who easily hit it home to make it 2 - 2. Luckily the ref didn't see him taunting the opposing fans in celebration - naughty boy! Possession in this half belonged to Devils, who controlled the ball 51 percent of the time.

Still tied after 90 minutes, the match continued into extra time. The terraces were silenced after 95 minutes when Devils's M. Caputi put the guests ahead 2 - 3, following an attack on the right. With that Devils had won the game in extra time. The most dominating JohnnyReb player was without a doubt H. Hodun. On the other hand, T. Bentley's play was disheartening. Most important Devils player was H. Schöttel. J. Portal was a disappointment, however. The match ends 2 - 3.
