Calibra used their ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings. Widzewek demonstrated their creative tactics on the field. L. Mikó of Calibra seemed to be floating in the air as he elegantly headed in to make the score 1 - 0 after a corner kick that was nicely executed by O. Roest. After 21 minutes, the visitors levelled the scores after K. Dudycz made it through the middle and struck home to make it 1 - 1. Widzewek's goal to make the score 1 - 2 came via a questionable penalty, but A. Mucha struck it home without a second thought. P. Firsov was struggling to make the ball dance with his usual trickery and panache, and the opposing players had little trouble shutting him down in these muddy conditions. After 34 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for R. MacGeachie who increased Widzewek's lead to 1 - 3. After 38 minutes, Widzewek's P. Borzym burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 1 - 4. A penalty was awarded after 39 minutes, and A. Mucha made the most of his chance to put Widzewek up by another goal. 1 - 5 for the visitors. The players of Widzewek now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle. The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 5. Possession in this half belonged to Widzewek, who controlled the ball 55 percent of the time.

After 52 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defence allowed M. Pinda to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors. 1 - 6. M. Pinda wanted to play on, but the Widzewek coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 59 minutes into the game by T. Harndorf. After 60 minutes, Calibra switched R. van der Oord with M. Radinović, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch. The head of W. Patelczyk connected with a corner kick after 60 minutes, and the ball ended up with P. Komorski of Widzewek who blasted the ball into the net, making the score 1 - 7. Calibra needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 65 minutes K. Narewski made way for F. Espagnet. A drive down the left side allowed P. Firsov to get in close and score another goal for Widzewek after 73 minutes, taking the score to 1 - 8. After 80 minutes L. Mikó could have reduced the lead with a blistering strike from the left wing, had it not been for an excellent block by the visitors' keeper. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, L. Mikó got himself booked. The manager of Calibra was not happy. With 83 minutes played, Widzewek put themselves up 1 - 9 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was W. Patelczyk. Thighs bulging, I. Galatioto charged past the weaker players, seemingly oblivious to the rain. Widzewek had most of the ball, with 53 percent of possession.

Calibra's top performer was clearly I. Galatioto. However, U. Schotte made a disastrous appearance. The most dominating Widzewek player was without a doubt K. Dudycz. A. Mucha on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 1 - 9.
