It was an obvious ambition of Steaua to use their ability at attacking on the flanks. Down the middle came I. Dascălu, making a fantastic play that nearly had Tayfun take the lead after 2 minutes, but D. Fraggakos preserved the tie. With 3 minutes gone, a long pass from the defence of Steaua resulted in a counterattack that set G. Van Maldeghem free through the middle, but the keeper made a spectacular diving save. At 13 minutes played, G. Van Maldeghem came in from the right with the intention of giving Steaua the lead, but his rocket of a shot rattled the crossbar. Attacking on the wings was the choice for Steaua, and they were successfully passing the ball from the middle to the wings to attack. Steaua's G. Van Maldeghem was shown a yellow card after 30 minutes for slicing down an opponent. With the match clock at 34 minutes, Steaua modified their style of play a little bit. Tayfun's M. Stoian refused to leave the field after injuring his achilles tendon after 34 minutes. I. Dascălu really should have scored when he was chosen by fate to confront a wide open goal following a great play by R. Belka after a corner. V. Oprescu came close to putting the visiting team one up 41 minutes into the match, following a solo raid down the middle, but D. Fraggakos managed to tip the ball to a corner. The referee showed Steaua's V. Navarro the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Tayfun's R. Belka went down after a savage challenge, but could continue playing after some medical attention. 0 - 0 was the halftime score. Tayfun enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 54 percent of possession.

Tayfun's V. Oprescu left the field after 74 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was C. Lăzărescu. The Tayfun captaincy was handed to D. Perian. Steaua had a good opportunity to attack in the middle, but remembered their instructions to focus on wing attacks instead. 81 minutes into the match and the home team took a 1 - 0 lead after breaking through on the left. The scorer for Steaua was V. Navarro. After 82 minutes Tayfun's D. Perian limped slightly after a late challenge, but he was able to continue. Coming through the middle M. Neme almost scored the equaliser for Tayfun after 87 minutes, but D. Fraggakos made an excellent save, tipping the awkwardly curled shot past the post. Tayfun claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 52 percent.

Most important Steaua player was D. Fraggakos. On the other hand, C. Cristea's play was disheartening. The most dominating Tayfun player was without a doubt I. Dascălu. C. Lăzărescu turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 1 - 0.
