Stephan 1 - 3 Purple (365237017)

Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 34342 to FC Stephan Arena. Lorenzo Cipolli was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Fausto Anfuffo and Henrik Hamvasi. All of Bucureşti was shut down for the day, as fans of both clubs came to the derby. Stephan decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. The following players took the field: Holmen - Brasil, Cretu, Epure - Meinecke, Andronescu, Osuna, Baião, Lungu - Negoescu, Cavani.

A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Purple. Lineup: Nicolae - Negru, Rusu, Seceanu - Grigore, Tămaş, Toma, Mateiu, Tolontan - Vanghelie, Staicu.

Good work by the Stephan defensive line after 19 minutes produced a good counterattack chance, which cut elegantly down the middle of the pitch and found F. Cavani alone in front of the goal, but his shot whistled just wide. This was a good period for the visitors, with several opportunities to take the lead, particularly when V. Mateiu slipped through the defence on the right to come up alone against J. Holmen, but the home side's keeper showed his lightning reflexes. 0 - 0 was the halftime score. Stephan enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 51 percent of possession.

Stephan fans held their breath as G. Negoescu scampered down the left side. He successfully avoided all challenges and cracked home the shot for 1 - 0! Purple needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 70 minutes I. Seceanu made way for F. Chirită. With clinical precision, the cross from winger G. Grigore found its way to L. Staicu's head, and a screaming header gave Purple the goal after 74 minutes played. 1 - 1 The crowd groaned its disapproval when H. Meinecke missed a free kick that would have given Stephan the lead after 76 minutes. After 77 minutes, Purple's V. Mateiu made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 1 - 2. After 77 minutes, Stephan switched G. Negoescu with L. Gabbrielli, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch. C. Toma sailed high above the opponents as he headed in a corner kick from P. Vanghelie after 81 minutes of play, making the score 1 - 3. The coach of Purple was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 85 minutes, C. Carp came on for L. Staicu. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Purple, with 56 percent of the ball.

Stephan's top performer was clearly F. Cavani. H. Meinecke on the other hand, had a terrible day. V. Mateiu performed admirably for Purple. On the other hand, P. Tolontan's play was disheartening. The match ends 1 - 3.
